Every bass I have ever owned has had some notes that don't ring out as well as the rest.
I have never owned a bass that had a really dead spot. At present I am down to a late 60's EBO that is a tad dull at G on the D string and a 95 P bass that has the same slight reduction of sustain at D on the G string. My 70 Rick 4001 had the same thing on the same note.
None have ever been bad enough to affect playability or note choice.
