Does anyone else out there like Dean guitars? The only bass I have right now is a Dean Edge 09. I love it so much.
I like the Dean's. I had a lined fretless Edge four string that was a breeze to set up for low action. It was especially resonant. I had to have the neck pickup re soldered but that's no big deal when the bass only cost a couple hundred.
I've always thought Dean's have been very nice instruments, but I've never really cared to own one. I mean, if someone gave me one, I would take it, but I would never buy one on my own accord. it's almost like Gibson. A lot of their basses are nice, like the EB-2. I would love to have one, but am I going to spend 1500-2000 dollars on one? Nope.
I like dean basses. I thought they sounded pretty cool. I use to own dean basses in the past. I personally like the dean edge basses. speaking of that, I've recently came across dean edge emg basses. I am kinda curious about them. I might purchase one. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/dean-edge-5-string-emg-electric-bass-guitar
I know nothing about Shinedown but the Dean Eric Bass signature Hillsboro is a great bass. I also remember years ago when Amazon had a crazy deal on the Edge Q4 Bartolini for like $129. Those were amazing especially for the price. The Hardtail basses were also very nice.
I've a wee Dean Evo XM. It's a nice enough wee bass, the added EMG BTC pot makes it that bit nicer. The Dean Motto strikes me as a fine bass but the chances of finding one in the UK are zilch
Hi there, Newbie here from Lanarkshire, Scotland. Can I talk with kodiakblair please re his Dean Evo XM. I am a retired guitarist just getting into some home recording for fun and have just bought a Dean XM. Im currently learning how to play bass but was particularly interested in his posts about him changing string guage. I have several questions about bass playing and I'd be grateful for any help. I have had no interest in bass guitar until now and know little about them. I bought a shortscale because, being disabled I play sitting and found that a regular bass made my left arm ache but what is the difference? On delivery I tried the Dean thru my Tascam recorder and the hum is unbearable.( I dont and wont be using an amp). The Tascam has a potential line in issue with hum.....it states this in the manual, but this is really bad and Im wondering if I need to get some shielding done on this budget bass..............any others have this problem with this particular model? I expected bass strings to be fairly thick but the G string looks about the 54 E guage of an acoustic. I expect a heavier guage would give more bottom end but is the nut on this short scale cut for this. That'll do for now other than .....any recommends for a cheap string and what is nylon for bass? My Dean is strung with steel wound. Thanks guys.

EABC 5 Acoustic. Not my primary but a nice addition. Now if I could only get the B string to make some noise!
I'd consider buying..... ....only if it is an actual Dean Performer Plus 5. Most Dean fans don't know they exist. Came in Natural Satin as pictured and Classic Black. Not to be confused with the Playmate 5 and the EABC5. The PP5 had a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, 32" scale like other Performers and a better preamp (Shadow P7) than the Playmate and the EABC5. They also had a really cool looking abalone sound hole rosette design like other Performers and the Exotica Radiant. This is circa 2007. Extremely hard to find but worth it. don't forget to stop in here and say 'hello' ------> Dean Club!!! <-------
