I love my Cabbie, though obviously not for every scenario. It typically grabs more attention than any other bass I own. Sometimes I'll stuff a wad of felt up near the bridge and solo the neck pickup to cop an upright-like sound. It rocks with black tapewounds.

Awesome. Now I always thought that NAMM was only for dealers and distributors. Can the general public get in? Do you have to have 'connections'? Please let us know. Great job with all the pictures.

What's funny about that is that of my 34 basses after Dean (8) my Ibanez' are next in number (7) of basses.

Here's my dean Eric bass .I got this bass in 2010 I believe .I went to the NAMM show in 2011, and Eric bass saw me and my band playing at the convention, and invited me to stop by his hotel that evening, and he signed my bass for me!

A few months ago, the preamp died on me, so I swapped it out for a Nordstrand preamp and a bigman pickup .it sounds killer!! I want to convert it to 18v next.

'Sounds Killer' Could you give more info? What are the controls? What's the neck like? Are pups hot? What is the range? Is it treble-y? 'Fourstringgirl' has a Hillsboro and 'Tejas Thumper' wants to know more about them..

Not original owner. Had once a green one, liked it but the neck was unstable so it got traded. Got my eyes on this one and couldn't resist. It's better than the first.

Never saw one in green. Any old pix? Amazing how many variations they'd make that you'd never see on a website or in a catalogue.

[edit] I just noticed you're also using a Mark Bass Amp! True to Jeff Berlin!
I saw him play with Stanley Clarke and Trilok Gertu opening for Miles Davis.

You can see it's a 4 piece alder body. Most have 3. The red is 2 piece.

Interesting. Mine is one of the Exotics that has a Burl Maple top so you can't tell unless you flip it over. It has three pieces evident on the back. It also has the straight headstock. What should I look for or listen for? I know it isn't that great for string angle at the nut back to the tuner, so I wrap at lest 4 widths of string on the tuner to get more of an angle. Would a string tree be worth getting? I don't notice any issue? I have really good sustain. What was unstable with it on you green one?

If you don't notice any problem just leave it be. On the green one the A string didn't have good breaking point over the nut and it rattled. I installed a string tree but it was so ugly, I took it off.
The truss rod on that bass needed constant attention, very unstable. With light strings and truss rod totally loosen there was still a back bow. It needed high tension strings to overcome this issue. When it was setup properly however it played amazing.

Looks like Jeff's is one of the flatter style headstock versions in this vid, though I am sure it is a USA made just for him.
