Dean Club!!!

Got these two: Dean Spire Ashley Purdy sig and Hillsboro Eric Bass sig...

View attachment 2211292

The one on the left is technically not mine anymore as it is listed on EvilBay and has a bidder. It will leave my possession in 2 days.

But I have a guitar too!

Do you still have the DEAN Spire? Been looking at a used one on GC and would like to know what you can tell me about it.

Thanks.

Dean Spire (as shown) and Dean Edge 5. Hopefully a new Demonator later this year!!!

Can I get a member # ????

How you like your SPIRE? I've been eyeing a used 4 stringer on GC and would like to know more. I currently own 8 dean basses, so I am a fan and aware of their good stuff and not so good stuff. But this is a bass you don't see many of. I'd really like to find a USA version, but I'm sure they're over $1k

Fellow DEAN CLUB!!! members:

Shannon and I are almost near completing the process of updating/correcting the members number list. There are a few members who were issued two numbers as well as a few DEAN owners who were not given member numbers at all. We are awaiting responses from 2 members concerning TB names and duplicate DEAN Club numbers. Once this is finalized we'll be giving out numbers as people visit and ask to join as would normally be the case. This will include all members from the past who were never given out numbers as well as much more recent members.

Please post pix of your DEAN basses if you haven't already or any updates of new DEAN basses since you joined.

Thanks for your patience.

I'd buy it if I didn't already have a Gretsch 5123 of the same basic color.

Reduced to $289 !!!!

Nice Hardtail! Can't tell from the pics. Are those EMG HZ's in there?

Yep, plus it is neck through with brass nut. I don't have it yet. It is ordered and should be shipped tomorrow from Texas.

Here's the specs form the Dean 2008 catalog for a 5 string, but still the same. If you look along the neck in the picture below it indicates 'also available in 4 string'. This appears in the 2008 and 2009 catalog. It is not in the 2012 catalog. Unfortunately I do not currently have the 2010 or 2011 catalogs to see if it was available for those years. So far, I have only seen these with serial numbers starting with '08' for 2008, which is the case for this Korean made bass. You really do not see many of these. I got a good deal on this including a hard shell case.

I've been G.A.S. -ing for one of these hard to find items:

Dean Performer Plus 5

Most Dean fans don't know they exist. Came in Natural Satin as pictured and Classic Black. Not to be confused with the Playmate 5 and the EABC5. The PP5 had a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, 32" scale like other Performers and a better preamp (Shadow P7) than the Playmate and the EABC5. They also had a really cool looking abalone sound hole rosette design like other Performers and the Exotica Radiant.

This is circa 2007. Extremely hard to find but worth it.

Let me know if you ever see one for sale

I'm selling my Playmate EABC5, if you're interested....

Thanks for invite from B-Mac.

Here's my Dean Exotica AEB:

Here's the thread where I talk about it: NBD - Dean Exotica AEB

I was set to play this at church on the 28th but....I'll be at NAMM!

And I'd love to join this club. What's my number?

Have you played this at church yet? I am guessing you're back from NAMM. By the way, your info from NAMM was great. You would have put news reporters to shame. I think it is so cool that you did that and spread the info around here at TB

Yes, I did. It was great. My guess for the next time I'll use it in church is April 29th (because usually if there's 5 Sundays in a month, the 5th Sunday is an acoustic set). In the meantime, I'm hoping to get some GHS Pressurewound Bronze on them, and try that out.

Bronze or Phosphor Bronze always seem to be the loudest, but also the squeakiest. Hope the Pressure wound are loud but not squeaky. Let us know how it goes!

Okay back in Oct I pulled the trigger on a Zone 4 string Custom, however the seller cancelled that order and never got my second Dean, I pulled the trigger on another one just like the first which is the recently discontinued Neon Yellow. fingers are crossed this sale makes it to my doorstep. I will update as the adventure progresses. current status being packed up and getting ready to ship. :)

Definitely Neon Yellow. So, what are these like to play? I see pups like a P-Bass.

Ever see something and it just doesn't register right away? You know something is different, but you don't realize just what it is until a little too late...well, I saw this recently:

I've seen the Dean Evo's before and I know they're passive and I know they're 30" with 2 humbuckers. Usually in mahogany satin or matte black. Aside from the loud purple color on this I didn't think much, until I came back to it and realized it had pole exposed pups and it was active with what looks like vol/blend/bass/mid/treble
Never seen one in a catalog. Looks like it could be from 2006. It was sold for $199. Probably never see one again. Anyone here ever play this version of an EVO?

Mine is active but it is because the original owner installed a EMG BTC Control circuit on it.

To be honest, the bass had a bunch of problems, most of which I have addressed, but I really like the lightness and feel of it.

It is currently my piccolo bass and looks a little different to the catalog ones also...
