Dean Club!!!

Here are 2 pages from the 2007/2008 Dean Catalog that show the Edge 09. I have a few catalogs but not all of them. I have the 2003 catalog and the Edge 09 doesn't show up in that catalog in either the Edge on or Edge Playmate 09. I think maybe the Edge 09 started in 2005, but I don't know that for sure.

I'll post more when I have some time. Looks like hardware was either chrome or black... so far anyway.
These are from the 2008 catalog:

Thanks for the info. It seems that in the last few years maybe the Edge series started the black hardware models. Oh well. I kinda want the dean edge banjo now lol. That I have never heard of.

All I can offer is that they have not had the Dean Edge 09 with Chrome hardware for quite a while based on the earlier 2007/2008 and 2008 catalog pages I posted. Those two catalogs show both Black and Chrome hardware for the Edge 09 for those years. It looks like they still had a choice in 2012.
Below are two pages from the 2017 catalog and the Edge 09 is only offered with black hardware. (plus a few other catalog pages)
Is it possible you might be thinking that an Edge 1 is an Edge 09?

Here is a page from the 2012 catalog that shows EDGE 09 with mostly black hardware and one 5 string Edge 09 with chrome hardware

Looks like they also had a choice in 2011 based on this catalog page?

The 2009 and 2010 don't show an Edge 09 in the catalog at all.

This is a recording I had posted in another thread previously. It's my Eric Bass Signature Hillsboro into a Peavey B400h, then the second time through I kicked on a distortion pedal. Point is, I love how this bass sounds especially through this amp.

Found this interesting USA Hillsboro in the TB classifieds a while ago. Basslines pickups and 3-band. I really like having the MM pickup up front instead of in the usual bridge position. It's a strong sounding bass with a nice blend of hefty lows, clear mids, and shimmering highs despite that there is no single coil option for the MM pickup. I'm getting used to the funky aesthetics, too! Keeper.

I guess either certain retailers use old pictures, or guitar center has some real old stock somewhere. I looked on GC again, but they actually changed their pictures, but it gets weirder. Now the natural and the mahogany basses have the chrome, which i have never seen, but the black bass has black hardware, which is normal.

You’re right...That is weird!

I assume the dean china factories may make some varying changes. Nothing against Dean personally, American and European deans are great, and i have never really had problems with my edge 09(made in china i believe), but looking back on quality issues i had to address with mine, and horror stories i have heard about other edge 09's(i would totally buy another tho) i think sometimes things over there just don't get done according to the specs.

So what are the controls with just 4 knobs and 3 band EQ?
Is one knob a push-pull?

Those daggers on the fretboard look similar to the ones on the USA Spire. Very nice.

Some day I'll be able to afford a USA Dean! I just have this psychological thing with going over $1,000 for ANY bass.

I just realized that is another pick up arrangement not shown in any Dean catalog.

This shows up on a few Dean Product pages: "Due to Dean's commitment to ongoing research and development, product specifications are subject to change without notice. In some instance, the product pictured here might vary slightly from our products in the marketplace."

So maybe one day they have extra chrome hardware and they use it on a bass that usually has Black. As long as it is the same....doesn't mean it isn't out there if you're really looking for it.

Looks like Dean is slowly removing the Hillsboro from their website as they reduce inventory.
