Dean Club!!!

I will have to relinquish my number...43
my Sledge is gone but on the GC chopping block:

We don’t do that here . Once a member, always a member. I always thought what you did to your Sledgehammer was great. If I was proficient at 5 string and didn’t already have a 4 string Sledgehammer I’d buy it. You have a wealth of knowledge to share here. I hope you drop in once in a while.

No I don't have a Dean do have an Ibanez. But really like that Dean. Just don't do any acoustic playing but I would if the chance ever came up.
I have 5 DEAN ABG’s, but not any of the Dean EAB series of ABG’s. They’re big and they have 2 full octaves. They’re also quite affordable.

Well I had this delivered this past Wednesday. Rhapsody 4 string active with EMG's and Trans Blk Quilt. Decent Shape. Paid $230 plus $20 shipping. One of the knobs isn't original, but a close match. I know I'll have to replace it though as my OCD just won't let me alone about it. Finish is in great shape but needs a cleaning. Came with a Gig Bag and a strap, though neither were advertised in the sale. Nothing fancy, but hey some extra swag! Here are the sellers pix.

Got my third Dean Euro, and my second Improv (the third is a Select). It's the orange-burst. Got it on eBay, from a music store a couple hours south of me. I won't go into a ton of detail, but they listed it as excellent condition, but I have to believe they are either blind, or have a vastly different definition of 'excellent' than the rest of the universe.

After a ton of dismantling and cleaning, soldering and pickup swapping, she's good to go. Plays and sounds beautifully, like my other 2. The yellow one has an SNC preamp (HAZ clone) and EMG 40CS (neck) and 40DC (bridge). The orange-burst is currently wearing the stock EMG preamp (BTS?) and EMG 40P5X (neck) and 40JX (bridge), so I have a little variety.

After taking this year to experiment with a number of basses, I have come to the conclusion that these are some of the most perfect basses, for me. Tone and quality of a Spector Euro, but without the uncomfortable (to me) body shape and larger price tag. I'll most likely start moving most of my collection before too long, and I'm going to continue to keep an eye out for these, so I can horde them!! lol

How different do those pup variations on each sound between the two basses? Plus you have another one not pictured. What pups are in the one not pictured?

The yellow one is nice and warm and thick soloing the neck pickup, or I can solo the bridge pickup for more aggressive stuff. Both on and it's got the warmth of the neck with the slightly aggressive tone of the bridge, which cuts through the mix nicely. The orange-burst is a PJ, but the only really useful tones are either both pickups, which is kinda Jazz-bass-like, or neck soloed, which is straight P-bass. Not as bottom heavy as the yellow one. The third one has EMG 40CSX (neck) and 40DCX (bridge) with an Audere 4-band preamp. It's much more open and bright than the other yellow one, and is more of a rock bass. It's also the lightest and has a thinner neck, front to back, compared to the other 2.

The PJ was a previous owner mod ? None of the catalogs showed a PJ on any of the Czech made Edges. Interesting that the one neck is thinner.
