Oh, well that sucks.
However for the Hybrids, it says Trans Brazilia finish. I wonder what that colour looks like?
I just read that only 25 Spyders will be produced.
Until they determine whether there's any interest...and if there is, then suddenly they'll be mass produced.

The few US Deans I've seen were very nice. I don't doubt they'll be cool, but they sure won't be affordable for most folks. Might make an Alembic seem worth it, if it's high enough. Go through a dealer during a month the options you want are on special, could be not much more. Just idle speculation.
Annoyed that even if I could afford one, I'd still need to tear out the electronics. Does make the "under $1000" import Hybrid look like the most attractive of the lot, but how far under $1000? They'd sell a lot more at $400 than at $900.
That's what i'm hoping, i'm really really interested in how they price these. At 400 bucks or maybe 450, this could be a great seller.

I'll pass. I still am hung up on the whole signature model from a brand he never played set up through the estate. Plus, I find those hybrids to look to modern, more Dean less Entwistle Fenderbird. All just my personal opinion.
Not really bashing, but something just doesn't sit right with me about the birds. It seems less like a signature JAE fenderbird and more like Dean's take on the design. It is their endorsement deal though just thought they would have gone more fore the traditional look like Entwistles.
The Hybrids look like they addressed some key issues about Birds tho- look at that lower horn! Looks like the first production T-Bird with higher register access!

I like Carlo's (Cataldo Bass) offerings better, same for Bach's. A while ago I was going to offer JAE basses but I dragged my feet, Carlo and Bach filled the void and I commend them. Mass produced by Dean ? I doubt I would buy one. I have bought a number of Bach nonreverse Thunderbirds and I expect their version of the Fender bird is just as good as their NR Tbirds which are excellent. I have not played one of Carlos basses yet but as a fellow JAE nut and luthier I have seen his build process and am confident in recommending him. I plan on ordering one of Carlo's basses because frankly I don't have time to finish the one I started! I think small independent builders are the way to go for a JAE bird, Much like the originator Peter Cook.
I like that, in the pic of John in the background, he's playing his Status Buzzard.
I like all of them, and I am interested to play one. Granted, if they are only making 25 Spiders, I might not get my hopes up.
Just to play devil's advocate here, if they make a "cheap" Entwistle bass here, that's okay. There are many many signature models which a great, and have the associated price tag. When I was a little kid, it was John Entwistle that made me want to play the bass. I never would have been able to afford the high priced basses, and neither could my parents. Hopefully Dean has made something which is good (not great, not crap, just good) at an affordable price.
