Dean John Entwistle bass

I just got an email from Dean Guitars about Winter NAMM that they will be making a John Entwistle Hybrid bass for 2011. I can't wait to see what this is. Anyone know anything about it already?

could be an 8 string or a exporer type (exploiter) i know they wont be to use the buzzard shape or name since warwick won those rights in a court case.

I was just wondering about an Entwistle sig bass the other day to. Crossing my fingers Dean can make something that of it that doesn't make me raise an eyebrow in consternation.

There is probably some legal entity managing his "estate" which includes such intangibles as his "legacy", which can sell his memory in whatever way they deem appropriate. See also: Jaco Pastorius (IMO).

Just a guess, though. Possibly/probably incorrect.

Though (by my previous post) I love the idea...It still baffles me.

The John Entwistle signature model would have either been his Alembic Spyder bass or Frankenstein. It's kind of hard to tailor a bass to someone who's...You know, dead.

Maybe a production slab p bass!? Still I would expect the slab from Fender, not Dean.

Within the last two years, every single Dean bass I have played right out of the factory is set up to perfection. I am blown away with their QC. Even on their cheap models, I have played some that play smoother than my Rickenbacker. It is very cool!

Within the last two years, every single Dean bass I have played right out of the factory is set up to perfection. I am blown away with their QC. Even on their cheap models, I have played some that play smoother than my Rickenbacker. It is very cool!

I played a Hillsboro bass that seriously cut my hand up from the fret ends.
