Dean John Entwistle bass

I don't quite see the goodness flowing when a company is going to make a sig bass posthumously.
That said, despite a lot of flack I see thrown daily at Dean, my local shop and tech is a Dean dealer and I have to say, they make a fine bass, andI find their QC to be strong. I tried a Hillsboro J at my local GC a few weeks ago, and was very impressed. Obviously, it ISN'T a $1K bass, but it played well, sounded nice and the fretwork was solid.
Let's just hope they don't piss all over one of my bass icons. Couldn't they do an "inspired by" model???
edit: I do have to admit, that while I've played dozens of Deans in the last few years, none of them have ever officially wooed me into plunking down the cash!

yeah, that's totally lame. seriously. i never heard of him doing -anything- with dean guitars, why would they feel entitled to make a signature instrument in his honor?
i bet he'd have something to say about that were he still around.
Hah. At least with the (only) $5000 Gene Simmons basses, you get to meet the guy don't you?

Agreed...Carlo is a great guy to work with. i am excited to see how mine turns out. I am so done with Fenderbird though...I swear...no more

It could be his family trust that licensed his name. I doubt they could just build and sell something with his name without some kind of permission.
I'm kinda curious as to what Fender says about their decal on the headstock - Cataldo's ad copy says that it's a 'licensed' neck, but still...
They did sign a deal with his estate.

Elliott: Its funny you mention him, because we just signed a deal with his estate. Were gonna be building his signature basses. Hes another one I left off my list, but he was amazing."

Ok, I just don't care for this at all. The Mike Lull is obviously inspired by the old Fenderbird creations, but some Dean signature when he never played one seems kind of disingenuous.
I have little hope for this. In my head is neon green and taglines stating it is what he would have played.
Dean is a company with very little integrity. The Razorback was never even played by Dimebag. He greenlit the design but died before they where made. I guess they cashed in just at the right time. The Dean Dimebag amp range is a joke too.
Jimi Hendrix had a signature piano a couple of years ago but the backlash from fans soon put an end to that idea.
It is scary to think what a money grabbing member of family or "estate advisor" could do to the memory of somebody.
