The Trans Amber with Maple Fretboard is calling to me.

Ever try the Z-Glide neck? Just a gimmick or for real?

Thumb rail seems like a good idea?

I have also been mildly interested in checking these out, but AFAIK, there is no way to try one out "in the wild". You can order one from the maker, or not at all. The price for these is not excessive, but not entry-level either. The Z-Glide neck seems like a great idea, but you'd have to own one of these to try it, as no one else is using this system. One thing that annoys me is that on their website, they have half a million really cool 6-string guitars, but only ONE bass design? Are bass players that negligible that we only rate ONE model?

That minor rant aside, I'd really like to hear back from anyone who HAS ordered and played one of these.

I had one. Took the train up to Chicago and bought it at sale they had up there. Decent bass. The neck was pretty comfortable. My first decent bass after getting back into playing. Worth the price I'd say, but no more than that

The parts are produced in India, but assembled and the Neck Glide stuff done up in Chicago.

Oh, and I thought the "thumb rail" was too far from the strings to be useful.

Dean is the gimmick master. I love the ML guitar (not sarcastic). I'm sure that getting him stoned and going hiking with Kevin Nealon would be friggin hilarious.

You can see and read all about it on his website. I like the concept, I have never played a bass with it, but I have played a guitar. Takes some getting used to, but not a gimmick.

When I bought mine, you could get them without the Z Glide. It was about $160 less if I remember correctly. So I'm guessing they would charge at least$300.

I meant a mental investment, considering if they suddenly weren't available after getting hooked on them lol

Just looked at it, $300 seems like an underestimate unless D.Z.'s bought and paid on a nice 3D scanner. It also looks like extra cleaning but a neat treat.

To keep on my parade rain rhythm- an oiled neck... I don't have it in me.
