Deep Impact is BACK!

I ordered one in a fit of something-or-other when I saw they were available again (even though I'd had 3 over time and never felt it was important enough to my playing to hold on to one). I tried to cancel the order the next day but it was too late. I may just refuse delivery on it and have it returned to Zzounds but if someone wanted that one (it hasn't arrived yet) drop me an email (I'll see that much sooner than a PM) and maybe we can work something out (I can refuse shipment on it and have it sent back to Zzounds at no cost to me so any deal that ends up with the same net effect, 139.99 back in my pocket, works for me). I suppose I could just ebay it in a while and make a profit but I'd rather have cash in my pocket now to see if there are any good deals on stuff on the used market in the post-holiday season.

edited stuff follows:

passed it on to another TBer at cost

I ordered mine from zzounds when it showed one left too. I think I may have gotten the last one because it's on it's way! Sorry. But I might sell it to you for...ONE BILLION DOLLARS...MUAHAHA!

That's juuuust out of my price range... Out of anger I went and purchased a Whammy ($110 shipped, off e-bay) right after it was cancelled, even though I really never had the money to spend for the Deep Impact.

Thanks to TB & Cheezewiz -I just got my Deep Impact last night! Thanks for the heads up!

It's a pretty cool pedal, the different patches are pretty rich sounding...seems well-made and heavy duty.

Anyone know how the tracking on this differs compared to the Korg G5 (which I also have)?

It seems with the G5, other than the octave patches -it's just adding effect to your bass signal whereas the Deep Impact is tracking the pitch of your note and reproducing a synth tone at the same pitch.
(there's probably a more concise way to describe this)

It seems the G5 and the DI are not designed in the same way regarding the tracking. I noticed this when hitting some harmonics, the Deep Impact would sometimes just reproduce some random pitches...had a hard time recognizing the pitch.

In any case, it's a sweet pedal -I'll have to tweak it a bit to find some useable patches for a band setting, but I'm sure I'll find something.

Rock on,
steve

Found the same thing to be the case with the Deep Impact. Basically, it added some "interesting" pitches when hitting harmonics.

Also found that the response wasn;t quite as good as with my Digitech. "Response" may not be the right term, but what I'm talking about here is the manner in which the effect responds when each note is played. I find that, unless I hit each note relatively hard and independently, it sometimes does not produce the effect. I tweaked the hell out of each of the settings, too.

I like the sounds of this thing a lot and I'm adding it to my board, but due to the above mentioned issues and the need for a couple more synth effects that are found on my Digitech, I'll keep the Digitech on my board as well.

I'm turning into a total bass synth/filter whore.

I got the Deep Impact - I only got to try it for a little while last night, but it sounds fantastic so far.

I also just got the Digitech Synth wah, but I haven't gotten to fool around with it at all yet.

I also have the Ibanez SB-7 and the DoD FX25B...
