I tried the VT Bass and didn't like it. Is that a sign I wouldn't like an SVT?
Seems to be the case, but alto of people seem to be sacking off actually getting any Ampeg in favour of getting a pedal/DI that'll emulate it well enough for them and stick it through a loud SS setup so I'm sure Ampeg themselves aren't too pleased![]()

Doesn't it really seem bizarre to you all that when someone wanted to get the SVT sound, the answer a year ago was "Buy an SVT," and now it's "Buy an SVT or a $150 stompbox"?
i'll take my Tour 700 over an SVT anyday...
whaaaat? i just don't like SVT's...not my thing
but to answer Jimbo, i think it is kind of neat that there are ways to *emulate* the sound, but i mean if you want the real thing there's only one way to have it...

Jimmy opens another can-o-worms, musta got bored at 2AM eh? I don't know if the masses are able to handle such a philosophical question at 2AM.
I can quote some laws: The first one is Purity of Emisions aw never mind.
Pure AMPEG TONE requires an AMPEG in the signal path somewhere. And no realy UB, just because you didn't like the Stomp Box doesn't mean you wouldnt like a real SVT.
Reminds me of childhood, mom takes a pitcher, runs semi cold city water into it and mixes a bunch of powdered milk in and mixes away... HERE!
Whoa, where'd the freeking cow go in this equasion?
You got a man's job to do... Do you back your nice shiney new F-550 Crewcab (now I'm dreaming) under the 40 foot RV trailer and wind her down or do you pull in your neighbor's rusted out Chevy LUV and watch the thing squish like a coke can?
The purist says, fool me if you can, but on load out I will see you're cheaten. Been over at Harley tech talk for a couple days... Wife says OMG I'm married to a blogger! I say... What's that? IS that good?

If they can replace an SVT with a VT pedal, next thing they'll want to replace the bass player with an emulator and sequencer. The union needs to put a stop to this before it gets out of hand!
On the other hand, I like the additional tonal variation that the VT pedal brings to an amp. It seems to make it easier to dial in useful tones. For more intense sounds, sometimes I put a pre-amp in front of the VT pedal.
