Demeter VTBP-M-800D vs Milkman 700 Halk & Half...?

Has anyone had both at the same time?

I have the Milkman and am considering springing for the VTBP-M-800D (wow, that is a mouthful!)

I can't help but think they are similar. I like both because they are made in the USA and they are tube pre-amp driven. I think they both have the ICEmodule power amp section as well.

It's not that I don't like the Milkman....It's awesome. But something is pulling me toward the Demeter. Size and look was the first thing. I know, very materialistic ...lol

I searched and there is limited info on the Milkman and zero on one vs the other.

Anyone?

I have had both for a couple of months now (just found this thread).

They are surprisingly similar. I have tried them with several cabs and basses and they sound and feel very similar. I thought the Demeter was supposed to be Ampeg like so I can't explain why they are the same except to note that I tend to adjust the EQ to my liking on amps so it is not a surprise that I tend to make amps converge to a degree.

I just saw this reply!....a year later.

I actually was able to drive up to Bass Central in Orlando when I was living in West Palm last year. I took my Milkman and Barefaced Two10 to compare with the Demeter. I was fully prepared to buy the Demeter. I did like the way it looked on top of the Two10, but they are so similar in tone, I left without the Demeter.
The Demeter was fantastic, but so is the Milkman. It cost me a day and gas to go find out, but now I am very satisfied with my little Milkman. It's a great little portable package.
