Denny's

Sadly, I have none of those other places. If you're hungry at 2am here, there is McDonalds or Denny's. And McDonalds recently opened because they closed down to blow up their building and start from scratch. New employees, new policies and some weird modern theme that makes for uncomfortable seating.

When I was in school, we use to go there after school on Friday's and get a bowl of their clam chowder. They were not known for the fastest service. I don't know if things have changed or not. Haven't been there in years. As a matter of fact, a lot of the Denny's around me closed up.

In my experience, their food was going downhill right about the time they had those incidents of racism in the mid-90s. And I've always lived in places where there were other late-night options. So it was easy to drop them.

I'll take IHOP any day over Denny's. I like Denny's food, but the last couple of times we went there, nobody approached my wife and me to seat us. Five minutes standing there waiting to be sat on a night that's not even busy? I took my appetite elsewhere and haven't gone back.

I have never seen a IHOP open at 2 AM. For that its Denny's, Norms or a drive through. If I am close to a Norm's, since there are about 20 times the number of Denny's I would go there. If I don't want to break out a GPS its Dennys.

Dave Attell had a good comment about Denny's. "When you go to Denny's you at least know that everyone there is just as miserable as you are."

Man, I live Dave Attell! His delivery is so funny.. Idk why he never got mainstream success..

On topic - I don't think we have Dennys in NYC.. I think we think we are too sophisticated or something
