Denny's

Hemet, California has two Denny's directly across from each other - one on each side of Florida Street.

Both have the Open 24-Hours sign but the one on the North side for some reason closes at 10 o'clock.

Go figger - I tried to walk into that one st 10:03 PM once and the door was locked. The customers were all lined up facing the wall with their hands up. It must be some religious cult secret meeting I thought, so I crossed the street to the other one and ordered Eggs Benedict.

The coffee was cold.



I decided to not go back and haven't gone into one since 1999. I dislike cold coffee.

They say McDonald's franchisee's biggest competitor is not Burger King but the next McDonald's a few blocks away. Sounds like the second Denny's was giving the first the offer they can not refuse.

at 2 am, if alcohol is involved, all the food on the "expired treadmill of flesh" from the gas stations are good.

If I drove 10 minutes in all directions from my house, I would find two restaurants. Neither are open at 2:00AM EST. For me, 2:00AM EST is a good time to be asleep.

if i walk 100 feet from my front door at 2 AM there will be 2 bars, a deli/convinence store, and a pizza place open on weekends.

if i walk the quarter of a mile or so to the end of the next block theres an intersection with a 7/11, two diners, and another 3 bars.

and im outside of the city.

i would not last long in NH.

- grilled in bacon fat in front of you
- bacon wrapped

Man, that really sounds like hell to me. I usually do not like chain restaurants, but the quoted cuisine above? Unacceptable.

My denny's isn't bad... all the time... but the price keeps me coming back

the same exact food at IHOP (which i prefer) cost an extra 10 bucks.

I live walking distance from Whataburger ... we hit the place up almost alway's late at night and on car trips across texas. I can't recall actually getting a burger from there at lunch or dinner time ...

I'm having a really hard time adjusting here. I don't think I'll last much past October 2013, which is when our lease runs out on the rental house. After that, back to the Pacific Northwest, or closer to a city with real stores, restaurants, other people, other people that aren't white, coffee shops, etc.

The lack of culture is what really gets to the wife and I. I'm white, but I sure love mixing company with people of all races. Not much of that here. All white, all the time. Yeah, it can be found here, but it's a struggle.

Denny's so owns the market here that I am in a unique position that I actually live closer to IHOP. But the local IHOP nor most of the other chains in that market niche are not open the extended hours. One thing I like about Norms versus Denny's is that Norms doesn't hide a lower food cost in the coffee cost.

It doesnt, at all. I had some Whataburger in Texas, it was alright, but nothing all that great.

Im lucky that my favorite Thai Restaurant is open til 3:30am.
Dennys is alright in a pinch, and generally only their breakfast food satisfies me. A $6 french toast slam is pretty sweet.

I felt the same way about in and out burger. Different strokes, but I loves me some Whataburger!

Id probably have liked Whataburger a lot more if 1) I wasnt a vegetarian (though they were kind enough to substitue hashbrown sticks on my burger) and 2) I wasnt so bloated on cheap beer that it was hard to eat, despite me being hungry.

ha... i have this discussion about burgers often when someone mentions it..

if i want a whataburger... i go to whataburger
if i want a wopper... i go to burger king
if i want a double cheesburger... it's usually the ones from mcdonalds
if i want a burger animal style... i hit up in and out....
if i want a baconator... i hit up wendys

lets not get into the numerous smaller local and regional chains ...

sometimes i may want a specific side... like ... seasoned sweet potato fries i walk across to LA Burger (which im pretty sure is just local) ... and while im ther i get one of their burgers.

they are all different... usually when i want a burger... im pretty specific on where i want to get it they all taste different.

And getting asked to leave without paying even though we ate because Gary won't stop hitting on the waitresses...

Going there with a buddy if mine and two chicks we met at a bar.... They said "buy us food " I said "I spent all my money at the bar "

They ordered anyway and when they were half way finished I nudged my friend Mike, and we said " gotta pee"

We then left and walked over to the window and tapped on it , from the outside ,and waived goodbye.

The look on their faces is something I'll never forget...
