In celebration of my upcoming 50th birthday, I made a deposit on a bass build that I've been thinking about for many years. As it turns out, the fine folks at Sadowsky offered me the best option for completing a dream bass of mine. I've mentioned the specs in other threads but here are the final build specs: 5 string NYC Vintage J, Chambered Ash in Sherwood Green White Pearloid Pickguard Single Coils with Standard Sadowsky Onboard Preamp Maple Fretboard with White Pearloid Block Inlays Matching Sherwood Green Headstock Chrome Hardware Now begins the wait. I've been quoted 8 - 10 months for completion. It sounds like a long time but I bet it goes by pretty quick. I'm really psyched about this build. Happy Holidays to All. Bones
My first (of only 4) Sadowsky basses was sherwood green. That was the one that got me hooked on Sadowskys. I think it looks totally great with a tortoise guard and a mint/parchment guard too. If you're interested, get them to cut you two extra guards while they have your bass! ;-) May also want to decide if you want Sadowsky-style or Fendery vintage knobs. Will be an awesome bass!
Congrats! The wait will be interminable, even though it will very likely be right in that window. Great idea regarding having additional pickguards made. The only thing I might offer is to consider having the vintage tint done to the neck. Particularly on a darker bass with a matching headstock, it should look really nice.
My NYC Sadowsky was a birthday present from my wife on my 50th. Because it came from her and was on that eventful day I vowed I would never sell it. And I never will - but not just because of the gift or the event, but also because of the bass itself. Enjoy that Sadowsky. I hope it comes to mean as much to you as mine does to me.
So here I sit in my office with this in a cardboard box like 3 feet away: Looking forward to the end of the day so I can jam out. Bones
That's beautiful. I ordered a Sadowsky for myself when I turned 40, so I understand how you feel. Enjoy!
