Well, I have had my Deltalite II 2512s in my Aggie cabs for a while now. I knew that the Deltalites sounded better in a controlled (bedroom) environment, but I wasn't sure that my favorable impressions would be carried on to the stage.
Fear not.
The gigs that the band has played since the conversion have done nothing but to strengthen my conviction that I am one lucky MF.
The enhanced mids have enabled me to 'feel' much more of what I have been playing.
Okay, fess up time here...I never have felt that the stock GS112s have done anything but made my music sound better. I am deeply in love with these cabs. It was not without great trepidation that I put anything beyond the stock driver in the cab. I did, however...after much consultation and mental masturbation. The result, on stage, is hard to describe beyond-****! I thought I had it all, before! The ability to not only hear, but to feel all five strings at close range to the cabs was new. It's the mids. Trust me on this. The Deltalites go deeper. It does help define the low end. But the bump in the mids is what has these cabs happenin' for me now. The band reaction was universal---much better. And this was from a group that implored me not to experiment, because the OEMs were so terrific.
My assessment:
If you have GS112s...do NOT mod them. They are wonderful just as they are. However, if you destroy a driver, seriously put the Eminence Deltalite II 2512 on your short list of replacement drivers.
