Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures

Due to the times we're living in:

• We cancelled our trip to NY to see our daughter and granddaughter.
• Our friend from NY cancelled her trip here.
• We cancelled our dream trip to Ireland and to visit my friend in Austria.
• We even ditched dinner with friends last night.

So yesterday I went to the local GC and bought a brand-spanking-new EBMM Stingray 4 string, stealth black.

When the world is running down...

Anyone else resorting to desperate measures?

I too want to run out and buy a new bass - I was thinking of a StingRay as well - but I've settled on putting the money in my savings account. Hard to say how bad this is all going to get

I've been comfort-buying bass parts. I'm working from home as of tomorrow, with all meetings happening over Skype. I might get cabin fever pretty quickly if I don't have some projects to work on in the evening.

The brother of one of colleagues was laid off with one week's pay. He works in a ski resort, so no comfy backup plan for him. This whole Covid-19 thing is going to have big ripples.

We cancelled a big trip to a wedding in Seattle, plus a smaller family trip. But we're expecting a financial hit from this, so no new gear here. Even expecting to offload some gear when the dust settles, if there's even a market.

but on the plus side, plenty of wood shed time!

Oh yeah my cancer check up at MD Anderson postponed. I called and did that as soon as I heard about China and Corona.

I'm making my own hand cleaning stuff, my own sanitizer spray. And even nose and throat spray. Stocked up on supplements and vitamins that are noted as good to maintain health and avoid respiratory issues.

Since I am a Prepper and live on the Gulfcoast, always have things like food, toilet paper, and etc.

Sounds like you were more "desperate" for a new bass.

As unbelievable as it sounds, my wife was in full support of this—even more so when she found out I got 20% off! (turns out the sales guy is as old as me and knew some of my peeps from 'the old days').
