Destination bass stores

Here's another suggestion that's a great destination - if you're into Warwick: The WARWICK / FRAMUS Company store on 12th Avenue South in Nashville. They only carry Warwick basses, but they have a very wide selection and they certainly don't pressure anyone to buy. They also have some limited edition models that you won't find anywhere else.

I don't know how much they'll negotiate on price because I've never seriously tried to buy anything there.

Carter Vintage in Nashville (if you like old stuff). I was already playing a sweet '63 P bass when the owners wife walked up and said "Gimme that thing and check out this '59 we just got in! Even if you can't buy it you GOTTA play it!"

(It was great but the '63 actually spoke to me more.)

Truly nice people and very knowledgeable.

Of course, you could make a day of it and swing by Corner, Gruhn, and Blues Vintage. All great Nashville area stores and usually staffed with quality people

Living in Europe it would be Thomann in Germany. It is the biggest music store in Europe. Thomann sells a lot by internet. So it seems their shop is located on the countrysite. I' m not sure if it is worth spending the time and money to travel. However their service and ammount of products they have in store is awesome. Great company.

Not sure I'd consider anywhere worth a plane ride just to visit a store, but I'll add another vote for the Atlanta Bass Gallery. Definitely worth a drive if you find yourself in Georgia - great guys, great selection (although for some reason they have very few fretless basses in stock at the moment)

Haven't been there myself, but a good friend of mine visited Roger Sadowsky's shop and it was a great experience for him.

A few years back I was at the point where I was ready to fly somewhere and spend whatever it would take to put the bass churn I was going through to an end. I was torn between going to Low End or Bass Central. Then I stumbled into the bass that put the churn to an end here on Talkbass.
