Carbon fiber, they were way ahead of their time.I did not know Ovations had an aluminum bar down the back. That’s cool!

I really dig your re-design.I want it to visual reference the Devil bass but with a twist into my yard.
I didn't know either but I'm not surprised. Ovation was started by aerospace engineers to build acoustics with synthetic components, and they've been shipping acoustics with metal-reinforced necks, fiberglass and carbon fiber backs since the mid-60s, and CF tops since the 70s.I did not know Ovations had an aluminum bar down the back. Yep, they have done the smart thing and built an entire collection of bridge designs around the A saddle.
Technically it’s not “floating”, since it’s solidly bolted down to the instrument. But it is well-built and handsome!
Looks like the saddles have more travel available than the usual two-part bridge.
It could really open up possibilities if they pair this with some bridge-end tuners.
Don't forget adjustable spacing![]()
Very cool idea. I am seeing that you are always coming up with creative and cool ideas. That's at least half the battle.
Love the ovation headstock.
Very nice, JIO!! Looks like a great project. I look forward to watching.
(And I love that nifty fix for the strap balance issue by you, Bruce!)
You know who is well-schooled in the Devil Bass thang, right?
