Diamond BCP1 - Fact or Fiction.

I used to have 2 of them, they are awesome and honestly I didn’t know how I could live without them. It’s an awesome compressor, used mine first in the chain and it is definitely a tone enhancer type comp, I think it makes everything after it come to life and it is super easy to dial in, the tilt EQ is nice!
By the way, I still have 2! I’ve actually ventured off and tried other compressors and besides the Source Audio Atlas, which can be whatever you want it to be, that I use for guitar or as a reamping studio compressor for guitar or synth. I keep on using the OG Diamond, that’s all I’ll put on my pedalboards, it doesn’t sound right without it! There are other compressors out there that are cool, but nothing sweetens up your tone like the Diamond.

It’s a rare thing to hear so many people gushing over a piece of gear.
Seems like I made a good choice.

I have a BCP1 - it's magical with some basses (passive P bass with flats, passive jazz with nickel rounds), not so great on others (active jazzes, stingray). I also have the Alma Mk II. It's very similar to the BCP1. The BCP1 seems to go a little deeper on the tilt eq low frequencies, but the Alma has more features (adjustable ratio, blend etc). The Alma works on any bass. Maybe the BCP1 has a little more saturation and 'spank' to the beginning of notes, but it's a very minor difference. Both great.

Same here. I love it. At some point I’ll probably upgrade to the MKII, but the MKI does a fabulous job and I’m in no hurry. (Besides, I’ll probably set it to sound just like the MKI.:roflmao:)

Because sometimes people take a chance on something and want to know if they did a good thing. But yeah, a fair question.
Won’t they know if they did a good thing or not when they receive it and plug it in and play?
Confidence in your own opinion is a powerful thing.

Hey There
So I was dizzy from looking for a new pedal compressor. My search lead me to almost going with the Alma MK II.
BUT I kept on reading everywhere (a lot of online opinion) that the older Diamond BCP1 was exceptional even as more of a tone enhancer than compressor, but still from reading it took on an almost mythological status. And I was hooked. I bought into it and now I have a BCP1 on the way.
I even purchased reverse polarity adapter and 18v pedal cable to check it out.
Does anyone still have and use this pedal?
Would love to hear more recent opinions
Thanks

I had one. Liked it, but not well enough to keep it.

Had used the diamond for quite some time after falling out of love with my v1 empress. Tried the Alma (when diamond was defunct and BCP prices were high), didn’t like it and went back to the Diamond. When empress came out with a new bass comp, i had to try it. I really like the empress….so I sadly sold my diamond. The diamond is a great comp, I can see how some can find its features, or lack thereof, to be appealing. However, there are different flavors of great comps out there that I think do a better job than the Diamond. For me, the empress checks all of the boxes.

Of course. But soliciting opinions from other people isn’t a vote of no confidence in your own. It’s just being curious.
