I recently got the old bass comp Jr version and I love it. My brain says "you want this!" but my logic says that I have a sweepable mid control on my broughton RFE and if I haven't used it before, I won't miss the additional tilt frequency. But still, I have GAS for it... To trade up or not trade up, that is the question lol

Loved the Diamond with some of my basses, but had the same problem: too much squish with my hotter basses even at min Comp. I will confirm that the Alma should solve that problem. Even with dry blend at zero, it behaves MUCH better than the Diamond with hotter basses. Also, I took my hottest bass and cranked the onboard EQ to max (note: I never actually run it that way). Under that extreme condition, the Alma got squishy even at min comp... however mixing in dry signal solved that problem nicely.

I wonder if the new Diamond plays better with hotter basses than the previous ones?

Couldn't you just turn the volume of the bass down in that case?

What does Tilt do exactly?

It's a tilt EQ like the original Bass Comp has. Think of it like a see-saw. Counterclockwise raises bass and lowers treble. Clockwise raises treble and lowers bass.

As far as the headroom and 'too much squish' issues, I've never had that with the Bass Comp Jr. and I have the hottest basses on the planet apparently (as I overdrive the input of most pedals). But I run the Bass Comp at 18v so that's probably why it's not an issue for me.

Is it cutting or boosting at the frequency you select?

It boosts all freq above the "fulcrum" freq of the tilt , and lowers all freq below that point when turned clockwise....or.....boosts everything below/cuts everything above the specified freq when turned counterclockwise. It's very musical and a great, simple, fast way to simply brighten or thicken the tone. At noon it's flat/ not engaged.

I love my Diamond. I went through a ton of compressors before settling on the original BCP-1, and it's been on all my boards ever since. Absolute tank, in addition to sounding great and having the most intuitive control layout ever.

I was hoping that they would come back strong, and this ticks off all my boxes:
  • It offers useful new features that weren't in V1
  • It's more power supply-friendly
  • The form factor is easier to deal with
  • They didn't go for the "everything has to start at $450" boutique pricing model
Great to have them back, and I might have to trade up!

pretty much agree with all of this

Diamond BCP-1 is a winner. Never had headroom issue my only gripe was the power being odd

It’s a pity I didn’t know there was a relaunch as I ordered a Solidgoldfx Beta V on April 26 and might have danced on freight.

Hmm. Not really. I'm quite impressed by how low they kept the price, especially compared to several other new options on the market.
I'm a fool for the Diamond Comps. I was looking at the Lusithand, but I thought it was too high in price. I saw the new Diamond and jumped at it. One is on the way. The mid control is just too tempting.

Can someone familiar with this explain the settings? I think I understand the labels on the knobs, except one... what is "TILT" referencing?
