Go ahead and scratch itEXACTLY!
Had an itch for a fretted 5 51p style custom 12 years ago... still have it, GAS cured for that itch.
that spurred an itch for a fretless 6 51p style custom 11 years ago... still have it, GAS cured for that itch.
then 9 years ago I fell into a great opportunity to have a dream 7 string built... still have it, GAS completely cured for that itch.
I have since bought 3 different 1983 Ibanez instruments for a nostalgia itch... and currently have an itch that will take a 2015 model Gibson SG bass to scratch.
Thanks guys. I am by no means a one bass man - I own a beautiful MIJ 70s RI P Bass, and a lovely MTD strung E-C for jazz fusion. I'm looking for a solid recording J bass sound with a Low B.
Hey guys,
Currently I'm tossing up whether to buy a high end boutique bass or get one made. There is a local builder who makes some top notch stuff. My concern is that I don't have a great track record for keeping basses. I want to have a bass that I know i'll keep!
Right now I'm tossing up between getting a bass built to my specs or to buy a a Sadowsky or something similar. Both around the same price range.
I'd love to hear from people who have had a similar experience...thanks!

I ordered a Roscoe Century Standard. (Not a full-on custom, but I chose the woods for the body and fretboard.) Although it's not perfect -- the neck is a tad chunkier than I'd like -- it has killed my G.A.S.
