Did anyone else use the 15% off GC coupon today? NBD!

GC sent me a "Bring the Band: Preview" coupon for 15% off my entire purchase between 9am and 11am this morning.

I already have 4 basses and 5 guitars, but I had a plan ...

First, I took my Wife to her parent's for a visit and took her Dad to breakfast. After that I drove her to the mall to shop. Only then did I ask her to go to GC with me, which was just a few blocks away. You know, "since we are in the neighborhood already."

So, I could not get there by 11am, but I stopped by at about 1:30pm.

On the wall was a used Squier CV 50's Precision bass. It was used, but was truly like new. The only clue that it was used were some fingerprints on the tuners. Of course, I knew it was there, because I had scoped it out last night.

The price? $199.00, I know. Nice price.

So I take it down and show my Wife the $199 tag, and show her the "new" CV 50's P-bass which was a few feet away, hanging on another peg marked $349.00. I then went in for the kill: I also have a 15% off coupon. She was not ecstatic, but she gave me her blessing to get the bass.

So I went to the counter, gave them the bass, and my coupon. I played dumb about the 11am deadline, but after they pointed it out I politely but bluntly pointed out that the coupon was a dealbreaker. The guy went in to talk to the Mgr, who approved the coupon.

So, not only did I get a CV 50's P-bass, but I got it for $169.00! Considering that was 48% of the "new" price, I am more than willing to accept a "used" bass. :D

So, Did anyone else use the GC coupon to strike a deal today?
