Did anyone watch SNL this weekend (Alabama Shakes)?

These days, I rarely find new artists I really, really dig. After an otherwise dull episode, the ending was frickin awesome with this band I've never heard of, Alabama Shakes, and I can't stop listening:

Of the two they performed, my favorite is Gimme All your Love...listen to the bassline during that breakdown. Reminds me so much of Duck Dunn, James Jamerson, etc.

And that voice. Chills, man. I really like them. Anyone heard of them before?

Oh yeah, they're big time now. My wife and I saw the performance of Gimme All Your Love and really dug it, same with the recording of I Don't Wanna Fight-- I like that they're getting more hard edged after the success of the first album rather than playing it safe.

We have tickets to see them the weekend after next, should be a great show.

They've been on Austin City Limits and one of the other late night Saturday concert shows recently. I'm liking them a lot. Notice that she's playing through a 60's Sears Silvertone cab with an Orange head?

I saw them open for Neil Young and Crazy Horse in 2012 at Redrocks. Cool show!

Good stuff. Interesting direction they're headed. More indie than blues now. I can't tell if the bassist is a hipster or if he really wants to look like Duck Dunn. His lines are solid and bouncy. Great taste.

They've been around for a few years. Someone who posts on this board is mentioned in the Wikipedia article on them. However, I will respect his privacy. Anyway, the band was under the radar for a while and then got very well-known very quickly.

Awesome band one that makes me still believe in music today. They are not in to music to be glamorous or posers they are in it with heart and soul and it shines when they perform.

They've been on Austin City Limits quite a few times. I dig the huge sponge mute the bassplayer is using; but it works so well that unless he is soloing, he hardly can be heard. Very frustrating.

I can't help but think about the late great Janis Joplin whenever I see them on TV. I love the feeling and emotion.
