Did Paul McCartney really die?

Hi all.
I have been lurking :hiding: for a while so I decided to get an account.

Anyway...
I just watched a video on YouTube about all of the strange stuff that was going on with the Beatles after their three month hiatus in the late '60's.
The rumour had it that Paul was replaced after he died in an automobile accident.
I do not believe this of course, but I do believe there was a lot of symbolic stuff going on which was a little more than just coincidental.
My conclusion was that he wanted to project the image that he had died in a metaphorical sense and was reborn. This coincided with the Beatles new look and direction too.

Thoughts?

In a related note, I do think we landed on the moon. However, that video footage is Hollywood. Why? They didn't have the proper technology to send an audio AND video feed 238,857 miles (distance to the moon) at that time. They couldn't even shoot a broadcast from the the East to West coast without repeaters and that is only about 2-3% of that distance. We needed "proof" to show the American people and the world and it came from a Hollywood studio.

I saw an interview in the 70's where the first question to Paul and Linda was "Those rumours about your death...were they true?" Broke them both up, and was the start of a great interview.

To believe that he died, you'd have to believe that they could really install an imposter for the most successful musician on the planet, who would look and sound enough like Paul to pass for him and had the talent to write equally successful material in a similar vein for Wings and solo stuff (longer than he was in the Beatles in fact) as well as playing all the same instruments. You'd have to believe that after during the acrimonious breakup of the Beatles no-one would give the secret away, and likewise that friends and family would play along. You'd have to reconcile the contradictory details in the rumours...for example was the replacement Billy Shears or Willie Campbell? Given that the first "clues" appeared on Pepper if I recall correctly, you'd have to conclude that Paul's best work was done by the imposter.

You can decide what you believe.

I remember in my mass media class in high school we were talking about this, and at the end of the class, one of the most popular girls in my class (cheerleader etc..) and not coincidental, one of the dumbest girls in school paused for a second and said "....wait....so is paul still dead?"

The earth is curved, and radio waves don't bend. Reflecting the signal off the ionosphere is not as reliable as you might think. Transmissions from the moon? Straight line.

To make things murky and guarantee this nonsense will last forever
the Beatles even contributed to this as a joke.

"Paul is dead miss him, miss him.." as well as a few other things.

But after the Mansion / Helter Skelter murders they got very serious about messages in songs and deny the whole thing even to this day.

There is a recording on the net somewhere of the California DJ talking to a nut on the air and inventing this whole thing.
