Didn't see this coming! NBD

Clearly the only thing you can do now is have your D-28 refinished in Antigua, and *most definitely* post pictures at the UMGF. Be prepared to defend your sacred honor. ;)

Congratulations & Compliments... I love both Antigua Fenders and Martin D-28's, though I'm more of a small-body Style 18 guy myself.

You don't need two basses that are similar, but luckily for you, antiguas don't count as being similar to black. Also pearl blocks over maple fretboard - mmm! The other Jazz looks very sharp as well. You have 2 very different basses. Now if you had 2 basses so similar that even you needed to look at the serial number to tell them apart, then maybe you don't need one of them. On the other hand, its always good to have a backup! So with that thought, you might want to buy another antigua. Also, now that you've stepped in it, you gotta buy an antigua P as well. Oh - and you mentioned playing guitar! So at minimum find a Strat and a Tele in antigua as well. ;)

So.... After joining this site my gas switched from guitars to basses which is a new concept that is completely unexpected. I can control myself though, and am totally happy with my jazz.

So.... Then- The other day this bass fell into the cab of my truck; after a decent drive and plunking down some benjies mind you.

What an instrument this is, fender gets a pretty bad rap in the seventies I've heard in dealing with guitars, but you'd never know it from this example. The neck is super easy, the spacing and ergonomics are butter! Even the poly finish is nice- I'm a nitro guy through and through. The 70s style frets are appealing also, just look at it!
All original parts including the case. Clean, clean, clean!

It's funny how life is. I haven't touched my d28 in a few weeks! I never would've guessed I'd be here today.

So.... Now I have two, do I need both? They are different in most ways but essentially the same- if that makes sense.
Thanks for letting me vent and be part of the club.

I love it. God that's gorgeous. Birdcrap burst is my favorite fender finish

I love the look of Antigua when it's new and looks like a B+W photo of a sunburst with a custom guard. Then they start to age and yellow to an olive drab color that isn't quite so appealing. If they used a clear coat that won't yellow they'd sell a lot more of them. The yare still one of the coolesrT finishes on the planet, and a bound pearl block neck is the ultimate. Good for you. Enjoy it.
