I am looking for a upgrade to my Fender Squire 4-string. I am left handed so what I did is restringed the bass upside down. unfortinatly the tone & volume knobs are a continuoues nuisance as they hit my fingerpicking hand. At the Guitar Center, I saw A Epiphone thunderbird (right handed) and decided to try it out. while I (obviously!) am not good at playing right handed I eventually got the jist of it and I really liked the basses tone, resonnance and playability. Ever since then I have been looking for a left handed 5-string thunderbird but to no luck. However I came this brand (Dillion) and I wanted to hear reviews on how good (or bad) the company is and whats this USA / Canada thing. The model I am considering is the Dillion (USA I believe) DFBB-605 ( 5 STRING ) List price------- $849.99 http://www.dillionguitars.com/bass/electric/DFBB/index.html
I found a version considerably cheaper here
http://www.adirondackguitar.com/lefty/dillion/13/dfbb_605.htm If anyone has this specific model I would grealty appreciate a review. I am also cuirious on learning more about this brand and any Lefty 5-String basses you would suggest. I know so far that Dillion makes precise and great looking replicas of basses but I am also concerned with the playability of the bass. I checked all the local dealers they do not have any Dillions whatsoever so I do not know how well they play. I desperately wish I could try one before buying but i can not find anyone with one in the area. I am also looking at schecter Schecter Stiletto Extreme 5 LH - Lefty Black Cherry | Sweetwater.com (so far my favorite guitar brand), Traben, Traben Array Limited 5 String Bass Guitar Left Handed | eBay and ESP LTD models Left Handed LTD B-205SM NS L/H 5 String Bass . Which models would you recommend? I appreciate your help Thanks!!!

I have two Dillion ES335-004 basses and am so pleased with them I did not even consider a Gibson Midtown or 335 Memphis bass. A couple of caveats: both of mine were purchased used but like new and had backbowed necks, which may be why the original owners sold them. A tweak of the truss rod brought forth FABULOUS action -- can't be beat, IMO.

The other problem may be insoluble. It is a bad buzz when the bridge pickup is soloed and its tone control is engaged. Touching the pickup cover actually makes it worse,
but it appears to be a problem only with that pickup combination. My tech had the bass for two days and could not identify the problem. I am considering putting clear packing tape over that pickup to see if it breaks the buzz.

But the basses are so fine in other respects that I intend to keep them in spite of the buzz.

OK thanks! they look amazing! my primary concern is playability and i am nervous about buying a bass without trying it i feel like its a bit of a gamble for me. How would you consider the bass playability? is the buzzing bad?

In terms of action, I've never encountered a better set-up (once I got the back-bow out). Mine are pretty much modernized long-scale Gibson EB-2DCs, with a bit less mud and a bit more P-bass punch in the pickups. Fit and finish are superb.

The buzz can be really bad if you touch the bridge pickup, and on these basses it's impossible to play over that pickup without touching it. But the buzz presents itself only if the bridge pickup is soloed and its tone knob engaged. If the neck pickup is soloed or both are engaged, no buzz.
