DiMarzio Relentless pickup wiring confusion

I'm upgrading my Squier Sonic Precision with a Dimarzio Relentless Middle P-Bass pickup and for grins I thought I would make it a series/parallel setup utilizing the Dimarzio 500K Push/Pull Potentiometer SKU EP1201PP. I emailed DiMarzio and they sent me a wiring diagram for such things, but I'm confused!

• It shows 4 connections from the pick up - black, white, green, red
• yet the pickup has 6 wires total (I understand the bare one are grounds)

• then as a reference I have the standard wiring diagram for the relentless middle

any help would be appreciated! thanks

They sent you the diagram for a guitar humbucker. One black and white of your pickup is red and black on the diagram the other half is green and white. Use the same color (white or black) as the start wire and the other as finish.

thank you for your feedback. I also wrote an email to DiMarzio and they wrote back on a Sunday! They sent an email with an explanation and another illustration. I tried to clarify it myself by hacking together two illustrations in case anyone else runs into this. I tested it and it works! BUT.... I did something wrong, and the tone pot didn't do anything. Ran out of time this morning to follow through. Hopefully will solve that in the next day or so.

Hey Mate,

I was getting confused by the last wiring image you posted, so I had a go at fixing the image as per the DiMarzio diagram for Soldering (Instead of the plus in diagram).

Let me know if it's accurate to how you wired your bass up, because I think the colored wires will help others in the future.
