Is it just me or is this CRAZY overpriced. I did a lot of digging and found most Z3s to have sold for WAY less than this. I’m guessing I could purchase a brand new one with those specs for less than that. Really interested in it but man, seems super steep.

I'm not so sure about that. This is a pretty fully provisioned Dingwall. Nearly every item that could be upgraded is upgraded. Highest grade custom top, matching headstock with zircote inlaid logo. Wenge neck with zircote board, two sets of pickups, luminlay and blocks. I would guess this is at least close to what he paid for it if not reduced a little bit.

Does anyone else turn the treble completely off on their NG2's? I do and I love it.

I sometimes back it off just a bit but it depends on the cab. I guess I never have turned it all the way down as I like full range. And with the Darkglas pre, that is high mid instead of treble so it does cut more of the mids than a traditional high tone control. If you have an amp with a sweepable mid filter, you may want to play around with that so as to get more of what you dont want cut while retaining some of the rest, combined with the amp high cut - but just a thought.

I think it's the extra set of pick ups that make it seem rediculously high priced. I don't actually know what they are worth but if you knocked off $800 for them I'd say it's right on par.

It's a brand new bass, spec'd to the nuts. The seller isn't giving it away by any means but if you like green and we're thinking of a build it's a solid option and investment.

None have come up with that spec and the thing is is that since the others were built and listed for sale prices on these things is steadily increasing. Availability is not.

Honestly, I don't think I'd sell mine for less then I paid.... I paid a great price at the time which wasn't that long ago but to replace them will cost way more now... not that I'm looking to either. Lol.

A tale of regret.
I put a deposit down on a new build 2 years ago. We were trying to make some big life changes... so I backed out.
Deposit refunded.
12 months later I'm back hooping in line sure wishing I hadn't of hopped out. That delay cost me about $800. At least....
It's a pricey build and prices went up... again.

Some of these basses will inherently hold a higher resale depending on the spec as well which is to be factored.

Crazy bald heads Rasta would always pull a premium. Same with some of the more unique SJs AB1/2s and Z that are held by some of the members hear.

I built my SJ 2 plus years ago now.... I think..... oh time.......
To do then same build would cost approximately $1200 more now.

This green one is as close to a 'custom' as you'd get with a Z these days. Things like the zircote D inlay are not cheap options given the extra time for that, and the matching headstock & finish ain't cheap either.

While the Rastaburst won't ever be up for sale, I know what the replacement value on it is (which I got for insurance purposes)...and it's a good bit north of $10K as of last year. Which is sort of where I feel like this one isn't that far off on asking price.

I'd also play the game of how much are you willing to pay for a bass that's got less playtime on it than many that hang on the wall of a decent shop (basically brand new)...with a premium for not waiting a few years in production queue? Is it worth it to you to have a pretty rarefied new Dingwall in your paws in less than a week?

I took delivery of that nice Indigoburst AB-1 that I posted a couple of pages back in the fall of 2007, enjoyed playing it for five years, and sold it for a few hundred more than I paid for it. It was a bargain for the buyer, considering what similar AB's were going for at the time. That's the only time I've ever sold a custom instrument at a profit...

Yep. A 10% increase a year.

To $7260 as an example. It doesn't hurt so bad on the Chinese and I dont think the increase has been exactly 10% either. To be honest I don't know exactly but it's significant

Look at the comparative resale of F-Bass or someone like Pedulla. Seldom are instruments a good investment, and these are well out in front on beating the curve.

When I sold my AB1, I sold it for what I paid, but that was 'special friend deal'.

I've never lost $$$ on a bass, but I don't churn them and I pick carefully. The closest is probably the 2001 PRS I had. I broke even on that deal, and was pretty happy with that.

It’s nice when basses appreciate in value like that, most tank as soon as they arrive haha. I imagine I could sell my Wal for 1500$ profit right now because the new prices have shot up so much. Basses with a long waiting period seem to retain the value as well because people don’t wanna wait for a new one.

I have been loving my NG2. I haven’t had it long but I’m blown away. It’s whats made me want a Canadian Dingwall so bad. Can’t see myself going back to a “standard” style bass. My NG2 was 1900$ and its better than basses I’ve had that were triple the cost.

after i got my NG2 I instantly regretted not getting an NG3
