I'm diggin' my NG-2 more & more. I'm still doing some fine-tuning. After playing it live this past Sunday, I decided the E & A were overpowering the D & G, so I raised them a bit and tweaked the truss for a bit less relief. The action is perfect, what I consider medium-low, which is good, because the saddles for the D & G are sitting on the (old-style) bridge. I need to remember to try soloing the bridge pickup the next time I play it live. So far, I've been soloing the neck pickup and staying there - it's in a very sweet spot.

after i got my NG2 I instantly regretted not getting an NG3
I just looked at your profile and realized you probably only live about an hour from me.

Yep. You Rochester proper, or outside? We were over at Three Heads about a month ago, and we're at Funk Music Hall (ex. Water St.) on Saturday night...Great town for music.

Ahh good ol’ funk n waffles! Yeah there’s some cool venues here. Three heads is awesome. I haven’t played a gig there yet. If you’re ever playing a show in Rochester let me know and I’ll swing out. What kind of stuff do you guys play?

We list as 'reggae soul' but also have a bunch of other vibe in our sets too, reggaeton, danchall, dub. All original stuff. We should be lined up for a bunch of the Rochester festival stuff too this year. Invalid Link Removed has a pretty updated listing of shows, the first album and some videos. We're generally in Rochester about once a month in our rotation.

I like green basses, and that Z is pretty close to my fantasy build. I’d go six string AB-2, but everything else would be close. I’d probably have to flip a coin to decide if the quilted top was to be that green or red. I like red too. And blue. Or maybe a four string....

I think my head would pop if I was turned loose in Dingwall land. So many choices.

Hopefully, somebody gets a bigger than expected tax refund this year and the Z finds its forever home.

I like the serendipity of the used market. No waiting.

There’s a really nice looking blue ABZ asking under $2k here in Oregon. Been for sale for a while.

I hear ya, I can’t stop looking at that green Z...it’s so awesome. I’m impatient and hate the idea of such a long wait so the used market is where I shop for stuff like this.

What are the woods on that bad boy? Also, do you find that neck pickup gets in the way for slapping? I like the design of all 3 being snug together

I paid $2,250 for this 2004 ABII 6 string a few weeks ago. I thought I overpaid a bit, but didn't care because I wasn't willing to play the waiting game for the NG3 6 string. I just saw that the price of the NG3 6 will be $2,249. So now I think I paid a very reasonble price, considering it's Canadian built with exotic woods.

You definitely made out man. That’s a reasonable price for the ng3 6 string. You got a steal on yours in my opinion.

I felt like I was flirting with disaster when I ponied up $2k for my first used Dingwall. It exceeded all expectation. And years later I sold it for the same.

All the Dingwalls I’ve owned recouped my costs. I don’t see that changing anytime soon. They were all bought used. Now, if you have to let go of a brand new, first owner build, you might be a while getting your price. That’s ok.

Turns out it’s ok to have nice things. Pretty sweet actually.

If everything else is on an even keel, what’s a few grand in the bank account earning next to nothing doing for ya? Life is short. I’d don’t care what Suzy Orman says. Actually, she says pretty much the same, but makes a ton of dough doing it. I’m willing to advise purchase of a beautiful Dingwall. For free. Because I know you’ll take good care of it.
