Does Dingwall's entire Combustion line only come with Quilted finish these days?
the older models without the Quilted finish are quite difficult to find,i hope they bring them back.

The colour / top options are all listed on the website, Combustion looks like you can only get natural without the quilt top now.
If you shop around a bit you'll likely find them in other colours that have been on back order for a while.
I searched everywhere on the internet for a new Combustion without the quilted top for the past 2 weeks. I could only find two in the country and both were the 2 pickup version. There’s a natural ash at Bass Central in Florida and a Transparent White at New Jersey Bass Center. I nearly got the Trans White but then decided to get an Ducati White NG3 instead.
To some, colored quilt with burst can be a bit too

I didn't write it but being honest I've never liked quilts. Solid or burst only. To each there own though - lots do.
Just didn’t care for the look.
Looking at the Whalepool makes me want to drift off the Caribbean though.
i was never into quilted finish but i never found them to be ugly either. just not my pref.

i really love that bass and i want to have that one always at home in my studio

ive been using rickenbacker for many years
and i had no plans to change that since it sounds awesome
i bought the NG3 to use for studio sessions only
but daaamn that bass has tremendous tone and playability so ill have to own one that gets beat up quite often for live.
if i dont find one in "burst" then i guess ill just go for another NG3 but metallic black.

I have similar feelings about quilted maple!
I managed to get one of the few Whalepool bursts without the quilted top that I am very happy with.
I like that finish a lot whether it's quilted or not!
I'm a little surprised they don't do opaque colors for the Combustion line but there must be a method to the madness... Have they been doing the quilt tops very long, or did they not do many regular painted ones to begin with?

seems to me that they introduced quilts at winter Namm 2019
now their entire combustion line are all quilts.

So niec to see non-3x models. I think they look much, much better than the 3x ones. Very sharp bass, here.
