What's yours look like under daylight? still quite dark?

Guess really I'm yo-yoing on whether I want the matte or gloss finish too - the matte one on the Super J that I saw recently really changed my mind.

You'd be surprized. I have had more good comments on my candy apple green Combustion than any other bass.

Pop pop!! Lookin good. My burgundy(?) does the same thing. Looks black a lot of the time until the light hits it.

As far as I know, it was a one-off for that bass, I don't believe it ever was a listed option.

I could see doing another Super in a candy red that's a bit deeper than the standard CAR, think the color of fresh arterial blood.

It depends upon how light hits it outside...

Ah ok, looks nice !

I found the 3 pickups option to serve more or less the same purpose for me, I can put my thumb pretty much wherever, and I can rebound on the pickups when slapping.
Or is there something else, functionality-wise ?

Love how the flame in the wood changes just above the knobs, btw.

I'd be open to this idea too. But, I have this thing in my head at the moment where I'm considering getting Luminlay on my build, so sticking with blues and greens is a nice way to limit my options.

I think you'll find that about 80% of the time it will look like the dark green you suspect, 10% it will look as if it were black to people, and maybe 10% or less under direct sun or bright stage lighting it will catch the undercoat and look bright.

I would not spec or order a bass without at least the side markers done in Luminlay, though I had my P done with the front markers too. Obviously my fretless is ALL Luminlay (lines, dots & markers)...but I did have my NG3 retrofitted with side dots. They're cheap and easy, so might as well do it. And they work really well on stage.

+1 I had the side markers on my SPJ5 replaced with Luminlay and it works as advertised. Ambient stage lighting seems to be enough to keep them charged but when the lights go down during a transition and come back on, those green dots are useful to check your hand is in the right starting position. I used PayPal to order a green Luminlay for $15. It came from Japan and looked like a Tootsie Pop stick. The tech charged $30 to install them.

You came out slightly cheaper than I did. With exchange rate and shipping, etc., I think the material (blue with black surround) cost $20-25, and my tech charged me 80$ for the work, and it was done in less than 24 hours. And even at ~$100 I feel like it was a cheap but valuable upgrade.
