Anyone else notice something unusually super?

Dare we guess a production super???
Sheldon has been teasing production Supers in Facebook live streams. It would make sense for this to be a prototype or factory sample.
I've ordered Newtone strings with balanced tension as well, for
-My ABI 4 tuned BEAD:
Hex core, stainless wrap, 128 98 74 58, one set Diamond and another Platinum
-And my SPZ 5 tuned UP to CFBbEbAb:
Stainless wrap, 124 98 73 56 42, in Diamond, one set hex core and another round core
The truss rod of my Super P tuned half a step up (not my idea) is maxed out with stock nickel Dingwall strings. It works but isn't ideal.
I figured I'd try different variations (diamond/platinum vs hex/round) on each bass to pinpoint my preferences for the next order. Fairly confident I'm ready to go back to stainless after playing nickels for a couple years, we'll see how it feels.
Wiring up that switch seems mildly nausea inducing, and I'm not terribly frightened by doing this kind of electronics work.
I actually suck at soldering - and won't put up a picture of my work - but Mo sent me prewired 6-way switches and I did manage to install them on my ABZ5 and C5, without much trouble (although the C5 control cavity is a bit more crowded). Now adding 3 parallel/series switches... that will become nerve wrecking for me at some point, I'm sure.Wiring up that switch seems mildly nausea inducing, and I'm not terribly frightened by doing this kind of electronics work.

That's a matching headstock Super. We paint the headstock first, then machine the D logo pocket, flame cutaway and engrave.

Well... a bit more of the process is now learned.
I wondered that but I just thought maybe it was too risky for chipping the finish after paint....
Thanks for the clarity on my inaccurate guess
~ still eagerly waiting then.... impatiently~

Man, I just love it when you drop in and give us nuggets of information like this! It was one of the very few things I missed about talkbass. That's a matching headstock Super. We paint the headstock first, then machine the D logo pocket, flame cutaway and engrave.
Yup! You and I made the same "guess"!

Yeah. If a production Super J becomes a thing, it'll be difficult to avoid getting one. I'm like 3 months away from my Z though, and have shifted my music focus to drums a bit, so who knows. Live music is effectively dead for me, so trying to get my own writing and recording done now, hence the drums.I’ve been checking this thread a few times a day since you posted with my fingers crossed
If or when the day comes, I’ll order the second I can.
From factory or just in total? Can someone better at math than me outline how many possible pickup combos you could have with a 3X setup? Ignore anything involving flipping phase, or having series/parallel switches for each individual pickup.
I’m debating adding 3X to my AB1 order because I really like having the dual-bridge pickup setup on my Sklar currently. I’d actually be really excited if they could do an AB with the two-bridge/no-neck pickup setup.
In total though, you could clobber together any of these to varying degrees of success in terms of tone/output:
Bridge
Middle
Neck
Bridge + Middle Series
Bridge + Middle Parallel
Bridge + Neck Series
Bridge + Neck Parallel
Bridge + Middle + Neck (in various Series/Parallel mixings)
Middle + Neck Series
Middle + Neck Parallel
Some of these in my head outright wouldn't work well at all, but, they could be done.
That's Bridge + Middle + NeckAnd let's not forget the very important "All Off"!
I got the switch from my pal Jason at Fret Nation and it came with a switch to make the scariness a bit less scary. I consider myself decently handy with a soldering iron, and you're only dealing with 6 specific solder points (and they're all color coded!). I'm about to give it a go now!

And we're done! I'm by no means at the cable management level of the Marvelous Mo, but she's fully functional! Full setup recap:
John East MMSR 3 band stingray preamp
John East Passive Tone Control add-on
6-way rotary switch
Pickup configs going from back to front-
Bridge
Bridge+Mid Parallel
Bridge+Mid Series
Bridge+Neck Parallel
Neck
The triple pickup d-roc combo
VERY happy with the final result. This might just be my favorite bass now..... It can do it ALL! Between the flexibility of the east preamp and the 6 way rotary switch, this thing can PARTY!
Cool. Flying blind with that would be a nightmare of trial and error.
I've competently wired basses, changed preamps, etc. I built the crossovers for my fEarful cabinets, and I've repaired a few effects pedals, replaced a few components, etc. I've been building my own cables (speaker, XLR & instrument and an occasional powercon) for years. I'm thinking about getting into effects builds by starting with kits and I did do this one afternoon this winter:

... but really, I'm a monkey with a soldering iron on this stuff. I understand what the components are and how they behave, but I don't understand the theory behind how it all works and fits together and is designed.
Even Mo sometimes has his hands too full to make things 'neat'. Meet the electronics to the uber-fretless-Combustion. Two preamps, one stacked pot, two push/pull pots, one 4-way switch knob, and one 'regular pot', two mini switches, one is on/on the other is on/on/on, summing board for piezos...View attachment 4181460
