I'm sorry that that AB2 didn't show up in playable condition and/or was too much work to get into shape. Had I the funds I would have considered taking it on as a project. I seem to do those.

Thanks. I ended up returning the bass. Who knows, perhaps it will pop up again on Reverb.

I'm in a no-bass buying pattern for probably a year. Bought a Super-P less than a year ago then just got a (non-Dingwall) fretless 6. Alas nothing for me for a bit. But that's do-able.

despite the awesome on board preamps I feel like I often prefer passive when it comes to recording these days as many other old dogs have preached before me.

careful what you say over on the other room!! Lol. I only recently took my Dingwall loving arse over there and some of the stubborn folk there don’t want to hear too much about the “D” word. Heheheh.

that said, I still love my Spector but it’s just not gonna do a Dingwall B. It’s awesome in its own way but hands down the award for most articulate, most defined, cleanest low B goes to......

Well, we know who :smug::D

That's right. I finally got one of my Spectors back. A beautiful white Euro4 with all kinds of special mods... It's great! But it's a four string, I don't think I could go back to a 34"-35" B string. Who knows? Maybe I'll play the Spector if a four string fits the bill. (mostly classic/alternative rock) Then pick the Dingo when I want to bring the thunder. :D

I hear you! I'm not hating on any of the other brands. I'll always love Spector for sure. Like Jeff, I may pickup a Spector 4-string again at some point. It's just that the Dingwall B is off the charts! Honestly, the whole bass sounds great. The ABII 5 I had for a short while had an OBP-1 (a preamp I've never really liked). It didn't even matter. Still sounded incredible! They sure know how to make great basses in the Great White North. :D

That Euro4 DW is beautiful, Jeff! I had no idea you could get a Euro with abalone inlays.

Check with Curt Mangan as well. I'm pretty sure he can do custom lengths.
