Dingwall Owners Club

Maybe we're just not connecting here. For me rolling the knob clockwise all the way is rolling it forward...and that puts it on the neck pickup. Rolling the knob what would be backwards (if it were a standard pot) all the way counter clockwise...it is the bridge...

User error. My knob was rotated a little and what I thought was clicks on the pickups (with a screw driver) really wasn't. It's all good and I will have to unlearn the wrong I convinced myself.

:bawl: I received some disappointing news… Dingwall made a mistake on my build. I ordered a Super P with a Super J profile neck and it got missed. I know there will be plenty that say, just deal with it but I am most comfortable on a Super J neck and for custom build money I don’t need any regrets. Back to the drawing board on build specs, since I don’t want it to be exactly like this one that will now be for sale. I’ve got a few days to figure it out. Dingwall will prioritize my build, so it will be another 1-3 months.
If anyone is looking for a 4 string Super, it will for sale at FretNation at some point. Here are some pics of what could have been.

It's unusual for Dingwall to miss a spec, but obviously, it can happen. Sorry it happened with yours. I ordered my first one through Bass Northwest, waited for it to be built, and was stunned when they said my new transparent black bass was beautiful. It was supposed to be indigo burst. Had to wait for rebuild. I don't know where or how the miscommunication happened, but it did...

Your old indigo burst is one that I referred to on my build. Love that color! I was pretty set on it, so I’m not sure if much on the body will change. Maybe I will get as lucky as you with the grain pattern on the next round.

I was initially told that Dingwall would not do a Super J neck on a Super P, but I got confirmation that they would. Billy at Dingwall said they just need to make sure it is well documented on their end. I just wanted to make sure my Super P didn’t have Super J carved in the headstock. I’m sure it’s a very low percentage of Super Ps that get spec’d this way considering there are probably way more Super P 5s produced.
I had this same thing on a Stingray build years ago. Wanted an SLO neck and got the standard.

Beautiful !
I would want a touch of that blue on the headstock too, personally ..

I like that, for instance :
Dingwall Super J 5 x 3 five string, natural gloss Dingwall Bass Guitars:, Fan frets, Jazz bass :: For sale, UK, EU, 4 string bass, USA, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Warwick, USA, Canada

But for a blue such as yours I would maybe consider reverse contrast instead, meaning natural headstock and blue "crease" or whatever it's called, instead of color headstock and natural crease as in the link.
No idea whether dingwall would do it ?
I have wondered about that before. I doubt they would do it, but who knows? My concern is where does the paint stop since there is no defined edge at the top of that cutout?

38 mm vs. 42 mm or 1.5” vs. 1.65”
You scared me for a minute. I absolutely love the neck in my SJ and have a SP coming later this summer. I didn't realize they had different necks and it's too late in my build to spec a SJ neck. Then I realize you are talking about 4-string versions. Mine are both 5-string. So my SP neck should be the same as my SJ neck. I can relax!
