I was in the Nashville GC, expecting to be disappointed by the same old same, and they had a used green metalflake D Roc Standard 4 for $1199. Great condition. I'd never played one and fell in love but couldn't really afford it, so I decided to wait and think about it. Told my drummer (a better bass player than me by far) and he said "why didn't you get it?" Went to pull it up on the GC site and it was gone. Oops. However, that hook was set, so I found this one in CA and ordered it. That oops cost me a couple hundred bucks...but I have one now.

I think it is a silly idea, practicality wise. Looks wise, it's up to your taste.
It technically stops you from accidentaly having the cord come out, but then you should be ready for either your entire bass going or you together with it, worst case scenario you mess up the bass, yourself and the actual jack.
Idk, it sounds cool on paper but in practice, it's kind of silly.
Maybe someone with stage experience could chime in on this. All the neutrik did to me at home is made me almost go down on the floor once or twice
I always pass my patch cord over my strap to avoid pulling it out, so I do not have any problems with regular output jacks. If it was already there, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to install one if it wasn't.
My EHBs come with neutrics and I disable them all. Lead through the strap should keep you safe.
Imagine the lead snapping off in the jack. You're screwed.
If I had it my way, I'd delete the Neutrik on Dingwalls if I could do it without using a standard barrel jack. That said, I'm so used to them now that it's almost a non-issue. Going from standard jack to Neutrik is a step I would not take. I'd imagine it would be an expensive mod if you want it done correctly and have it look presentable.
Just for the sake of mentioning - at this point in my years of experience with them, it seems that the Neutrik might be a little more durable and road-worthy than other offerings, but not enough to go putting them in instruments that don't have one. Plus, there is a way to remove the lock mechanism if you want. I never got around to it.

I like the Neutrik jacks and have them on some basses and not on others. I wouldn’t go to the trouble of making a modification that wasn’t already designed to have it when it’s already equipped with a perfectly worthy component. The functionality isn’t sufficient enough to make it a worthwhile mod IMO.
I wish there was some sort of conversion jack plate to replace the Neutrik with a standard jack. I don’t care for the Neutrik, the locking feature is superfluous, they can’t be bent back into shape like a standard jack, and I find they wear out quicker than regular jacks because you can’t rotate them to change the angle of pressure being applied by your plug.

That's interesting. I have many hundreds of gigs, let alone countless rehearsals and practice time on my Prima and AB1s and none have had issues with their neutriks. The latest bloodmoon (above) has about 300 hours on the clock so far and no issues, but it's a baby in comparison. Have you experienced those failures on yours?
I actually like the locking feature, even though my projects are fully wireless. And overall to me the jack just feels good, solid.
While on the topic of jacks. My main pet peeve isn’t actually about any jacks themselves. It’s about the Combustions not taking most angle cable end by about an 1/8” of an inch. Small 1st world problem
On the ABZ6 that was my primary bass for a couple years, but probably with not even half the use your basses have seen, I had to replace the jack twice and it’s not like I was stomping on my cable or anything that would’ve cause excessive wear. I know Neutrik is high quality, so I probably managed to get two duds in a row, but I’d still just prefer a regular ol’ jack.
