I like the regular jacks on the Dbird and Super. All my Neutrik have been fine, but it’s overkill. And I love handing my Dingwalls off at GTG and jams, but hate watching a guy trying to pull the plug.
I went into my string stash to see exactly what TI jazz Rounds I bought when the TB store was closing and offering nice discounts. Turns out I bought the extra super longs. JR364. Almost too long for the DBird and AB, the silk ends and outer wrap hit the post on the E. The E string is a 101, then 75, 55, 43. Slightly larger gauges than the 344 set.
I installed them on the Dbird, and that means they can go right on to the AB as well. They went on just fine. Right out of the gate they feel and sound great, if a little new. Set up is close, but it’ll take a day or two and some playing to perfect. Why I dithered around for years before trying this set, I don’t know.
The Super P has JF 344’s so I’m excited to compare them head to head. They feel less stiff than the DR pure blue .040 VW that have been my go too. I can also compare the TIJR to the Paysons on my AB.
A nice Sunday morning coffe project.
