Looks like they have the green wires too maybe.

So don’t quote me on this, look for confirmation but I think the green and blacks are married together to put the pick up in series which will just give to the white and the clear left over.


Unless maybe that new p pick up is only 3 wires then …. I don’t know. …. Good luck!! lol.

My personal favorite is Sonic Blue, and it looks like it’s supposed to be there with it. White is other one but it looks a little funky because it isn’t the same shade white.

Speaking Jason from FretNation, Dingwall is offering an optional neck cap for the Effigy that matches the fingerboard wood to solve this visual issue with the Effigy.

I'm looking at swapping out the volume knob for a 250k linear taper as well, it's a bright bass so the 250k will tame that a bit over the stock 500k pots. Will likely do the same for the tone knob.

Hello Friends! I just picked up an SP1 and am really enjoying it so far. Couple of questions:

Mine didn’t come with a setup manual/ specs. Does anyone have those specs for string height / pickup heights?

I’m liking Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats on mine, more so than the LaBella DTF’s I tried on it. Any recommendations as to other favorite flats?

I haven't found anything concrete, they have some setup videos on their website, but they are mostly NG3's I think. Would be nice if they had more technical information readily available. So many questions here are just from lack of technical information. Like the default wiring for any bass. Or pickup specs. Anyways here's the link:

I had cobalt flats on mine and loved everything about them, except for when they rusted within a couple months of moving to Nashville/playing outdoor gigs despite militantly cleaning them after every use.

I've since had to abandon them.

After an expensive journey I landed on TI jazz flats(with a labella ltf b string)
I personally find the tension and feel of them perfect for me.
For what I record(folk/pop/country) the sound is perfect.

I have concerns about being able to hear myself on stage in non iem situations though, just not as much high end.

Long-term I intend to get another sp1 and have pure blues or sunbeams on it for live gigs.

After I got my JT5 I almost never picked up my stingray 5 of 20 years.. I ended up parting ways with it to fund a custom Z build. I decided that 20 years of phenomenal service I’d put those funds towards a monster of a bass (and many other instruments)

I can see that for sure. This may still be the honeymoon, but I can't really see myself playing anything else at this point. I think I might be selling one or two instruments after this Dingwall purchase. It's just so easy to play. A bit more of a stretch with the scale length but nothing I can't handle. I'm wondering why it took me so long to try a Dingwall.

The tone pot is 250k. I had a look after needing to replace the volume pot which had been pinched together on my SP1. Will be very interested to hear how 250k goes. I replaced the stock Alpha pot with CTS but went with 500k figuring that Sheldon Dingwall knew what he was doing, but it is very bright for a P bass.
