My biggest problem with the Effigy is that white area between the neck and the first pickup. Some colors look terrible with that white area. My personal favorite is Sonic Blue, and it looks like it’s supposed to be there with it. White is other one but it looks a little funky because it isn’t the same shade white.

Sorry if that screws things up but that’s my opinion.

It's not white. It's maple color. The pictures out there are all over exposed. Here's one I took, maybe it represents it better.

I love that color on it. On anything other than that blue I’d add a slap-ramp to cover the maple.

Well it does make the neck heel a bit more stealth, plus that light maple will turn yellow with time (as they all do), and the white paint too (but a different yellow), so those two colors will probably harmonize even better as the instrument ages .. ?
Or maybe that's the optimistic take, I don't know

Is a semi-transparent white an option maybe, or is it only opaque colors for the moment ?

Not boring at all, I love white basses. Classy look!

On a custom, headless, multiscale bass? I'm not sure "boring" is within your options. White looks great imo. I'd be going matte black or that deep candy purple, personally.

Metallic Matte Black looks pretty good! That was my wish as well but with the maple heal I decided Charcoal Grey Metallic might lessen the contrast for my tastes on my first order.

Another option to lessen the contrast would be to opt for a Roasted Maple Neck, but I decided to go for the cheaper (er, less expensive) alternative this time around.

Will probably go Matte Black for my second Effigy if it ever becomes available with wenge neck and 6-strings

A couple AI-generated pics to get an idea what each might look like (don’t look too close ). Found them to be pretty close to pics of the Dingwall finishes I compared them with:

I’m sure the Matte Candy Purple would be awesome as well but I couldn’t get a good rendering of it.

I finally got a fairly good live shot of my nephew playing the Super J-5. The band is called "Fully Loaded" and that is my gifted brother playing drums and doing backup vocals. It's a family band.

Got my SP1 5 String a while back, love playing it.

As sacrilege as this may be to Mr. Dingwall, I am curious though about swapping the rotary selector for a standard volume volume tone setup and swapping the current 500k volume/tone pots to standard 250k's. It's a pretty bright bass and I think that lowering the pot values might darken it down a bit. I did this before on a Sandberg with great results. With regards to Series/Parallel, I'm fine with sticking with Parallel, like a normal PJ/Jazz bass. I rarely use series anyways. I prefer to run the neck about 75%, and bridge about 25%, that mix really sounds good to my ears.

Is there any issue with moving to 250k pots?

Can the pickups be wired as volume volume tone? Would the Red and Black wires be "hot" and everything else goes to ground?

I agree that the charcoal grey suits the neck heel better. Looks fantasic!

The only reference I could find with the matte candy purple is this abz:

I have a matte black wenge/wenge abz 5 on the way, but if dingwall offered the effigy as a 6, I might end up grabbing one a few years down the road as well. Holding out for the hope they'll eventually make a 6 with narrower string spacing, so I can be kinder to my hands, lol. That, or a z6 for the neck profile

Been playing Dingwall's at Sweetwater for the last couple weeks. Kind of ruined me. My Stingray 5 HH has been my go-to forever. It's an amazing bass in almost every way for most players. But the Dingwall, NG3 specifically, is inspiring to play. I just love those stupid small frets and having never heard the Darkglass tone capsule, I found it to be incredibly musical and the rotary switch to be quite useful, although I only could see myself using two of the settings, personally.

Made a crude wiring diagram, and I think this will work with having the white wire not be connected to anything and taped off. Am I missing anything?

I believe so, I might have to take the cover off again to confirm, but if it does have the bare wire, that would go to ground on the Pots as well (I think).
