I like that tone too. My ABZ-5 has the bridge wired series and a series/parallel switch for the neck. It seems to open things up just a bit and adds another tool to the kit.So last night just for the fun of it, I switched my neck pickup into parallel and used my bridge in series and ran them both in series. Usually I'm a S/S/S player...but I enjoyed it very much. It was somewhere between that big fat punch and a more traditional tone without any sign on congestion in the low mids. I may try it out on Friday's gig.
On another note, I've been thinking about an Afterburner I with wenge board, natural flame maple top, and the 3X pickup option. Is the rotary switch 4-position and if so what alignments of the 3 pickups are provided?
