Gotcha. I remember some comments about the new bridge. I wasn't aware of the pickup covers -- but I wouldn't expect a large tonal difference (lol).

I’m about to order a Hipshot drop tuner for my D Bird, does anyone know the correct size to order for DWs since they come in two sizes? I think they’re the 3/8” but I’m at work so I’m not sure. Thanks.

HE6 3/8" is what is used. They use a standard size Xtender but, if you ever need to replace a tuner, you have to custom order them through Hipshot or Dingwall. Dingwall uses a shorter nut to accommodate their recessed tuners. I just ordered a set for a Jazz build, they are not hard to get.

That's an awesome story!

I've only been playing for a couple of years, taking lessons at home and playing more at home than anywhere else. My new Dingwall has really helped me expand my knowledge of playing and fueled my passion for playing bass too. This may sound silly to you real musicians, but getting this new 5 string has helped me understand the value of knowing the fretboard and where notes are (which I currently don't but am now starting to learn and understand rather than just using tab). I'm starting to appreciate knowing that there are easier places to play certain notes and how having the b string can make some songs more accessible to a hack like me. I guess I could have achieved that same result with any 5 string, but the Dingwall is so damn awesome sounding it is like high octane fuel to feed my desire to play.

Like I said, I've been playing bass for over 50 yrs, by ear, and have been in some top notch rock, pop, and southern rock bands, and have done quite well, but the Dingwall has lit a fire in my musical soul to play every day, and learn the road map of the fret board, to advance my skills, and help my creative desires.
These instruments are simply, and truly inspiring !!!!!!!!!!
It's gonna bum me out when word gets out to the point where I'm not the only one in this city to have one of these amazing instruments, but I guess I shouldn't be so selfish to keep others from enjoying the Dingwall experience !!!!
Oh, I have the NG2 with the rounded pups, and paid under $1700.00 a few months ago. Love the black!

I ordered a p tone and 3 way rotary switch for my 2017 NG-2 last week, Jeff in Tech support was very helpful and offered this advice:
"If you install a P-tone pickup (or any of our other pickups) to create a 3x you will have to swap your other pickups around because of issues with the magnetic polarity of the pickups. This means they need to be laid out neck/bridge/neck. In your case this would be neck (in the bridge position), bridge (in the middle position), P-Tone in the neck position. You will need either a 3x rotary or a D-bird rotary. I have attached a diagram that shows the difference." I went with the 3 way instead of the D-Bird.

I was advised that shipping of the pickup and the switch would be 4-10 days, so I'm still waiting

I wish I could get a cross between both of those switching options. I'd like the the 3X switch, but getting a soloed middle pickup and all three would be cool too.

Im not married to the P Tone, but I'd certainly like to try one in either the NG2 as a 3X or in my Super J5.

Actually you can have the switch with P tone.
