Dingwall Super J : Vintage + modern

I wouldn't be at all surprised if places like Basscentral or Guitar X were to get the SuperJs first. You might have to do one of those 2 day trial periods to get your hands on one.
Even my local guitar shop which carrys boutique basses (even has 2 Skjolds-Juneau :smug: ) doesn't carry Dingwalls.

Geoff- any other paint colors on the SuperJs

Gary at GuitarX has two on order - mine and one for the store.

I wish you guys would quit bugging Sheldon so he can finish my bass!!! ;) :D

I can't wait!!! (yeah I know Frank - I only had to wait a few months - not years like you)

Sheldon, any idea when you'll have a retail price list for these beauties?

Also, what would you recommend for someone in my situation (I'm sure I'm not the only one) i.e., no one even close that's a dealer. :eyebrow:

Hi Marcus,

We've updated the price list to include the new Active/passive hybrid treble. If you send an email to [email protected] Barry will forward the new pricing to you.

You can count yourself in the majority on that one :)

I'd start with the closest dealer and check out their trial period policy and work out from there.

Problem is, the closest dealer is literally over 700 miles away.:hmm:

I guess I'll just have to try one sight unseen and go with a dealer that has a good return policy.

Hey Geoff, you and Nate are welcome anytime. The work you guys do makes our work seem pretty "sandbox" level :)
I've always liked playing in the sandbox more than going to work. Actually, I've just gotten really good at making my work sound impressive. The reality of it is mind numbingly boring most of the time.

Of course, having played the Super J I'm now faced with a dilemma. Do I order myself one of these amazing machines or do I fix the brakes on my truck? I never thought the decision between not dying in a horrible car accident and having a new bass would be so difficult.

Thanks again for letting us drop by Sheldon. I've filed away all the trade secrets I stole so I can sell them to the highest bidder. Maybe that'll make me enough money to not only avoid a horrible car accident but also get me one of them Super J's.

Hey Nate. Jeff Martens-Koop says hi. Small world.

I don't know if this is bending the rules or not (mods let me know if it is) but this marks the first time we've ever gotten information up on our site for a bass that hasn't already been in production for at least a year.

Also, if anyone is interested in seeing Lee Sklar with Lyle Lovett, they'll be on Letterman this Wednesday. Talk about cool gigs!

I'm holding out for the Super J-5 :bassist: In the mean time I put my order in for an Indigoburst Standard AB-1 after an enjoyable "talking bass" session with Sheldon. I found out during the conversation that two reverse-p pickups lurk under the covers of the FD-3's. No wonder that they would sound so good! I missed that in my research somewhere along the line. My math says: 2 passive reverse-p's + (X) fanned frets + 37" B string + affordable price = Precision bass for the 21st century... Thanks in advance for such a cool instrument, Sheldon :hyper:
Back to your thread: Enjoy those cool Super J's, you lucky few!

Hey sheldon-
This is definately a first, you updated your site w/o the bass guitar being out of production or us bothering you for 1 yr straight. Do you have any more photos? you only posted one.
I know my SuperJ looks a bit different but please feel free to use any of the photos of it for your gallery. I'm think its PJ-ness is probably useful and that shot you took of the pickups and I use as my avatar is killer. Just don't show the headstock... kidding

Is anyone having troubling downloading the SuperJ spec sheet? I keep getting "file damaged" messages. Maybe its my Apple G5
