Sweetwater is not the problem here , Fodera will only build so many basses every year and there is a long waiting list ........."needle in a haystack".

That doesn’t really say anything of substance since anything is possible, right?

Last I heard we’re all presumed innocent until there’s a preponderance of evidence establishing wrong doing in a civil case, or proof of guilt is established beyond reasonable doubt by the evidence in a criminal case.
Saying something is “possible” isn’t proof that was what actually occurred. And speculation isn’t evidence - even if a hundred people jump on the bandwagon. So I wouldn’t be too quick to pass judgement in the absence of facts.
Question: did the OP contact Sweetwater directly and talk to anyone about what happened to his order?

Owned a small business. Anyway it still stands if your business can’t make money it’s a bad business model. Period. Blaming poor service on profitability is some weak stuff. Granted Fodera isn’t giving the excuse, someone else postulated that. Someone here made an excuse for Fodera, I am merely stating that it’s a BS excuse. If your business can’t fulfill its promise you need to adjust something. If your business is high ticket instruments and you can’t turn a profit even though people are clamoring for your product, there is something wrong with the business model. If you can’t meet demand you stop taking orders.

This isn't a Fodera issue it's a Sweetwater error. Sweetwater over promised a product that their service partner (Fodera) had zero ability to fulfill. Vinnie and Joey should reconsider their contract with Sweetwater. Because now it's not Sweetwater with egg on their face...it's Fodera.

I thought Vinnie Fodera worked for Ken Smith. He also worked for Spector?I never understood why anyone would pay for a bass built by Stuart Spector’s apprentice when they could buy a bass made by Stuart himself for half the price

When I spoke to Ken about it he said something like "Vinnie was an employee he never built one of my basses".

Wow Ken Smith. Doesn't legend have it that he required you to play a Locrian scale before he would sell a bass to you?? Jk.
I spoke w/ him once at a NAMM and he was pretty cool. Always jonesed for one of his basses; the (old) CR model still has me drooling.
So, if he never built a bass for Spector, what did he do? Accounting? Answer phones? Clean the shop?

But I didn't assign blame or condem any party, neither did the poster I was replying to. They said those things "COULD" happen, and I said it was "possible". I didn't say it was "probable".
And my comment regarding what Sweetwater should do was based on IF they had been at fault ("Sweetwater should THEN..."), so I don't get where you think I passed judgement.

I expect it’s American Holly. It’s pretty uncommon in pieces large enough for instruments that are free of knots. It could be that Fodera’s supply is dwindling. The colour can also vary, so it’s possible that they cannot source an appropriate colour of it.
The Yin Yang standard is available in Mahogany and Purpleheart. I would have hoped that the conversation would have been to switch it to one of those.
He had an order in for six months and then it was cancelled. Hardly see how he was to blame?
