Disappointed with One Spot/Pedaltrain

I remember researching power supplies and finding this exact issue, which is why I never bought a CS6.
I would never drill a pedalboard in the first place. Plus the screw heads would stick out from the board, no?
Dual lock is the way to go.

But how did you not check if the template fits the holes in the power supply, 3 times in a row?

The issue could be easily avoided if Pedaltrain used screw-on feet instead of riveted feet. It's either an oversight or a-hole design. There are many cheap power supplies that would fit with dual lock if the feet were removable.

I read that you can drill out the feet and replace them with screw on feet of your choice, so you can raise the board. I've also seen people put rubber caps on the PT feet, the ones they seel for chairs. Haven't been able to find any that fit where I live.

However, when placing it on the bottom of the pedal train and marking through the holes with sharpie and then drilling, they were off. Maybe they are so exact that just having the drillbit off just a hair throws everything else off? I really have no idea. I’ve done plenty of drilling in my life and mounting things and never really had an issue like this. I’ve also read online that some people said the edges of the template aren’t straight and that’s what throws things off. I don’t know? I’m glad I posted that YouTube video because I think if I get those chair Caps I can stick those on over the feet and get just enough clearance door where it will be Ok.

Also, the company that makes the pedal train using rivets on the feet is totally stupid. In my opinion, of course. Could’ve used any number of screws or bolt heads to where you could make them removable for one reason or another.

So just got my Pedaltrain nano and a One Spot CS6. So excited to get this all set up as it’s my first board. Got a nice tuner pedal, high pass filter to mount. Planning on compressor pedal and maybe have room for a pre amp but not planned for right now.

Saw the YouTube video for mounting the OneSpot with the paper template. Drilled the holes in the Pedaltrain. Went to line up the Onespot and TOTALLY OFF. Lined everything up again, pre filled holes, took my time and TOTALLY OFF. I’m so pissed at this point. I figure third times a charm. Nope…..now I have 9 holes in the Pedaltrain. Went to Home Depot, got extra strength (10lb)stick on Velcro and mounted it.

But guess what? Now the freaking Onespot sits lower than the legs of the Pedaltrain! So the power supply now touches the floor. Not by a lot, but enough to where I don’t think that’s too good. I’ve been fuming for a few hours now. I think, well, I can take off the rubber feet and stick on some washers to add height. Went out to take off the rubber feet and it appears you can’t! Looks like the genius who designed this used rivets to secure them and not anything you can use to remove.

So now what? An $80 pedal board with 9 holes in it (luckily) covered with Velcro, and a $130 power supply just sitting without any pedals mounted because I’m at a loss. Anybody run into this or have any suggestions? Googled this and came across another forum with people that had similar issues but no follow up posts with answers.

Really rediculous because OneSpot specifically states the CS6 can be mounted to a Pedaltrain nano. I made sure to do my research before spending the money. Anyone have suggestions or run into a similar issue?
It’s really not that difficult. I got it on my first try… Did you check the template with the screw holes on the one spot make sure they lineup in the first place?

thanks for posting. Not trying to be snarky with you, but I have addressed what you asked several times a couple posts up.

I just purchased the chair tips and pads like I posted in that YouTube video earlier this morning I’m going to give that a shot. I think maybe the template I was given was cut a little bit crooked or something? I have no idea because all three times the holes were off just enough to where they wouldn’t line up with the power supply. Unless I’m off that much with my drilling, straight.

When I started building pedals, I had a lot of trouble drilling enclosures correctly using the provided template. Eventually I learned to 1) mark the hole with a center punch 3 times; 2) drill a pilot hole with a SHARP 1mm bit; 3) go up in size slowly using sharp bits and eventually a step bit, which is self-centering.

Is it possible you botched the pilot holes?

Completely possible I did. How you explained doing it is definitely a great way.

Yeah I hear ya. I don’t want to come off like that. In fact, I did find another forum by googling the issue I had and many other folks had a similar issue. Wondering if there was a bad batch of templates where something was just off a hair? Sounds ridiculous, but just a thought.
 
Well, just bought these and put them on. Drilled really small holes in the center. That helps equal out the air pressure or else they slide back off. But once done, they stay on. I have fixed my issue. So all good now.

I’m probably out in left field here, but I’ve been using a one-spot adapter plus an extension splitter for 8 years now without issue. No power brick - just the one-spot plugged in to the wall and then 10 pedals plugged in to the line. I counted up the power requirement of each pedal, and it was still under the rating of the power supply - and that’s if I had all pedals going at once, which at most I usually only have 5-6 at a time.

I saw a popular (mr) big name musician bring out a 5 pedal board and a one-spot plug and do a set. No power brick. Something to consider?

One big daisy chain works with analog pedals that run on +9V and are not power hungry.
Digital pedals need to be on their own isolated outlets or they'll be noisy. =Pedals with odd power requirements (-9V, 12/15/18V, AC) need an isolated outlet or all hell will break loose.
 
Don’t sweat it. Drill straight through that rivet and mount new, thicker feet with a small screw and locking nut on the other side. I had to do the same with my dingbat pedal board even though I have a cioks power supply. With so many combinations of boards and power supplies I’d bet most of us have had to make a mod or two to get everything perfect.

When I mounted my Cioks Sol under my nano, I punched holes in a card to line up with the screw holes in the Cioks. When I went to mount the power supply, I realized I had the template flipped upside down and nothing matched up. I hadn’t even considered that to be a possibility.
