Disappointed with One Spot/Pedaltrain

So just got my Pedaltrain nano and a One Spot CS6. So excited to get this all set up as it’s my first board. Got a nice tuner pedal, high pass filter to mount. Planning on compressor pedal and maybe have room for a pre amp but not planned for right now.

Saw the YouTube video for mounting the OneSpot with the paper template. Drilled the holes in the Pedaltrain. Went to line up the Onespot and TOTALLY OFF. Lined everything up again, pre filled holes, took my time and TOTALLY OFF. I’m so pissed at this point. I figure third times a charm. Nope…..now I have 9 holes in the Pedaltrain. Went to Home Depot, got extra strength (10lb)stick on Velcro and mounted it.

But guess what? Now the freaking Onespot sits lower than the legs of the Pedaltrain! So the power supply now touches the floor. Not by a lot, but enough to where I don’t think that’s too good. I’ve been fuming for a few hours now. I think, well, I can take off the rubber feet and stick on some washers to add height. Went out to take off the rubber feet and it appears you can’t! Looks like the genius who designed this used rivets to secure them and not anything you can use to remove.

So now what? An $80 pedal board with 9 holes in it (luckily) covered with Velcro, and a $130 power supply just sitting without any pedals mounted because I’m at a loss. Anybody run into this or have any suggestions? Googled this and came across another forum with people that had similar issues but no follow up posts with answers.

Really rediculous because OneSpot specifically states the CS6 can be mounted to a Pedaltrain nano. I made sure to do my research before spending the money. Anyone have suggestions or run into a similar issue?

Been researching this same setup. Yikes! You got me re-thinking.

Maybe a Nano+, Metro16 or Classic Jr?

Don’t do it. I’m pretty handy and not an idiot. I know the pics make it look like I did it blindfolded!

I think if I spent money on a Cioks unit I would have been better off. These are pics from someone on Sweetwater that mounted it to a pedaltrain nano.

Yeah, the Sol fits easily under a Nano. Personally, I like the Voodoo Lab Dingbat boards better than Pedaltrain, and the size equivalent, the Tiny, is slanted instead of flat, and would probably fit the CS6 underneath without any problem (though the Cioks is a better supply overall, regardless of the slimmer profile).

I will add that I drilled a Metro 16 with the template and mounted a CS6 underneath without issue, so I’m not sure what happened here.

Yeah, that Dingbat board looks sweet. Would have worked a lot better. I have no idea what happened. It’s not rocket science, that’s why I’m frustrated.

At any rate, saw these on Home Depot’s website. I’m thinking if I can maybe superglue 2 together for the front legs and glue to the existing Pedaltrain runner feet, maybe it’ll raise it just enough to get the power until off the ground. Really not sure what else to do besides throw it away and buy something else.

I have a nano and a nano plus both with a CS6 and they work flawlessly for me. Installation was fairly simple and there is definitely enough clearance under the board. Maybe you got a dud?
Quite possible I did. I came across other complaints online after googling the issue and saw some similar frustration and issue as me. Maybe a bad template? I don’t know.

Was this the video you watched? Maybe the template was reversed in some way?



Yup, that’s it. I’m thinking something had to be off with the template.
 
I went round and round trying the same thing with my nano. I finally gave in and got the D'Addario XPND Pedalboard because the smallest configuration is as small as the nano but the feet are adjustable and can be raised to a good height. Albeit my Nano was old and I didn’t tear up a new one. In the past I have used rubber chair leg caps like this that slip right on the pedaltrain feet and raise it just enough for more clearance.

I'd return the PSU if it's still possible.

I liked two power supplies with my Nano, one was a Pedaltrain Spark, the main downside is that it was on a heavy side. the other was a mini iso brick, velcroed to the bottom.
 
When I mounted my CS6 to my metro, the holes were close, but off by a bit. I chalked it up to operator error. I suppose you could make sure the template matches up by punching holes in it to make sure they match the mounting points on the CS6.
 
Wouldn't that be easy to confirm either way by checking the template directly against the power unit?

And if the supplied template is a mismatch for the power unit's screw holes, couldn't you easily make your own drilling template from any piece of card?

I have that exact setup and everything worked perfectly for me. It’s been a couple of years since I put it together, so I don’t remember what the template looked like, is it possible it is reversed?

yeah, I think from the similar thing you all have said, I can definitely admit it could be user error. I’m thinking maybe the first time I did it, I put the template down on the pedaltrain reversed. Meaning, with the words/instructions down. So the holes would’ve been backwards.

On my third attempt I did make a template of my own and re-drilled with pilot holes. When I lined up the power supply, it looked like they were closer, but not close enough. They didn’t totally lineup, almost like on an angle. I decided since those were the third set of holes (9 total) I was finished.

I don’t know. I guess it’s possible then if you’re off by just a fraction, you end up with my problem. Also could be I was just irritated and not thinking clearly and bought the Velcro but now that somebody said it, maybe the double-sided tape would be better since it’s thinner and doesn’t have to be put on the pedal train, and the onespot to work. Maybe that fraction a difference would enable it to set on the rubber feet.
