Distortion in fender rumble 40 is weird

I recently bought a fender rumble 40 and the distortion is really weird. Somedays it sounds really nice and somedays it sounds like fuzz (which I don't want). I mostly have the gain and drive really low but it still manages to sound different every few days. Pls help I really don't like fuzz

Did you buy the amp new at a brick & mortar store or off the net?
If off the net, call em' and see what they suggest, they usually have a return policy.
If at a real store, take it back to them "if it's still under warranty" and let them deal with it.

((If it's out of warranty,)) first thing I'd try, tighten the driver, it might be just a screw that wasn't tightened properly and is allowing the driver to rattle, if not, then pull the driver.
It's maybe just one of the driver's wires occasionally rubbing on the back of the driver's cone making it seem to be distorting.
While you've got the driver pulled, look around, there maybe a staple or two rattling around or maybe a wooden brace that has come loose.
Tighten everything you can find, inside and out!

If that doesn't work and when you've narrowed it down to being a problem that's definitely in the amp section, then it needs to be taken to a service tech.
I'd start by contacting Fender for their recommendations for authorized service centers near you.

FYI: If you go to a Tech for repairs, try to get a estimate for the repairs before work begins. Nowadays it can sometimes cost almost as much for a repair as it did for the amp to begin with!

The Gain may be making your Overdrive & Level settinhs too hot. Unlike some amps, the Rumbke can work just fine with the Gain at zero. Here's a post describing the interaction of the three controls in the Fender Rumble Club. Hope this helps.

Are you using the Vintage/Contour/Bright buttons? If so, try pressing/depressing them 10-20 times and see if the problem goes away.

Active Bass ?

Active bass can have hotter output, so depending on the volume settings on your bass.
It could give you different levels of distortion with the amplifier.
Also good to unplug your bass after usage.
Since its common for the jack to be switched, to turn off the internal preamp.
Leaving a cord plugged on the bass , will drain the battery faster.
Also check your battery. Low battery can cause distortion.

my bass is active but i mostly keep it passive. Just changed the battery and it helped. Thanks!

May I suggest beginning at a certain number and writing down your settings.

Add a brief description of the sound, overdriven, fuzz, and your opinion of it.
Then move the settings and repeat.
If you do this, return to a setting you like, and if it doesn't sound as you descibed it, there may be something wrong with the amp.

I do this with my Empress EQ, because it doesn't yield the same effect with all basses.
