DIY Cables: Anyone use Techflex?

I was going to start making some new cables for myself & band mates. I was wondering about this Techflex stuff. I can't find any good reviews of it for instrument cable usage. Most of the reviews I've found on the internet are about larger diameter TF used to bundle multiple cables/cords.

Does anyone on TB have any experience with this stuff purely for use on an instrument cable?
Is it worth it? I know it's not expensive, but I've read cutting it can be a hassle?
Does it provide extra durability, or does it just make a cable look pretty?
How does it affect the flexibility of the cable? Does it make it more difficult to (properly) wrap the cable?

I've made a few mic cable harnesses and pedalboard snakes with TechFlex braided sleeving, and I really like it for applications where you want something to be a bit more bullet-proof and elegant looking than it otherwise would be...but I don't think I would ever recommend it for an instrument cable. It's almost impossible to get the lie of the cable's insulation/jacket to match the lie of the braided sleeve, and so they tend to fight each other when you're trying to coil or uncoil the cable.

If you do want to try it, definitely get their CleanCut series; otherwise you'll need a hot knife to cut the sleeving. And if you try cutting the non-CleanCut series with anything other than a hot knife, you'll just wind up with shredded nylon.
