Just saw Passion Pit on Letterman. The headstock on Jeff Apruzzese bass looks familiar.

If I were bringing out my own line of basses, I'd come up with something a 'little' more imaginative. The horizontal lower edge IMO is just not happening in aesthetic terms, especially when combined with the little rounded bump at the end. Overall...there's a visual imbalance that doesn't complement either a P or J body. It's just too bland...

But I 'aint building 'em so nobody is likely to give a toss what I say, and that's fine. If potential customers like it...that's all that matters. I wish Mr Lakin all the best. Always loved his basses (and might have bought one recently had they been available here in Australia)

With there being so many Jazz & P clones the first place I look to figure out what brand a bass is is the headstock.
That said, you'd think manufacturers would spend more
time designing a headstock with style - something really sharp and eye-catching.

This headstock looks dull to me and is a pale attempt at
combining a Fender scroll head with a Fender Tele head and
it leaves me disappointed. The Alleva-Coppolo headstock is
another one that disappoints - It looks like an old flip-flop and
is way too big. The basses, while very high quality, look unbalanced with that big paddle for a headstock. They were
a deal-breaker for me. I wouldn't own one because they're so ugly (IMO)

Sadowsky and Lakland have the best clone headstocks - they're stylish, attractive, and both are a nice modernization of
Leo's original design, so they carry the heritage forward very effectively. (I own one of each)

I think Dan can come up with a better design before he gets off
on the wrong foot. The proposed headstock does absolutely nothing
to make me want one. It's a dud. Sorry! It's just a dud.
