Do aesthetics matter to you when it comes to amplification ?

Short answer: no, it doesn't matter.

Nope, doesn't matter. Good looks are a bonus if the tone, price, and weight are right, but would never dictate my decision. I've never even thought about it for amplification, except when I considered ordering an Avatar cab in colored Tolex.

I think that there are definitely amp setups out there that I wouldn't buy because I think they're ugly, but only because there are amps just as good or better that *don't* look ugly to me. Again, fortunately, everything I really love the sound of is nice to look at, as well.

The uglier the better, particularly if the player making notes come out of it is really, really stinkin' gooooood.

I don't know I'm going to paint my bass rig I'm building African Violet with some nice textured Duratex.

Then I'm going to put some Black Steel corners on it, and black grills.

It's funny to be called "shallow" because I dislike certain appearances. I'm sure that same person would be more than happy to date a girl that looks like a pitbull with mange as long as she had a good personality...or would he?

For me, aesthetics matter to the extent that I want my gear to be relatively inconspicuous.

I'm thinking about recovering my cab and head in wine red tolex and putting tweed coloured cloth over the grill of my cab.

So yeah, I guess aesthetics do matter to me but tone comes first by a long shot!

i love the look of matching head and cab, but i dont think it would prevent me from playing something that wasnt matching. although, i did sell my 6x10 and rebuild/clean up my 4x10 because it matched my head.

tone and volume are more important than looks... but there are enough choices out there to have all 3.

IMO, most of the better quality gear on the market today looks pretty sharp.

Other than the face plates on the amps, it pretty much all looks the same. Black with either black or chrome grill or speaker cloth in same colors.

Since I´m an Industrial Designer, aesthetics/design matter to me in everything, but when it comes down to tools quality and usability comes first to me and looks very close behind them.
If there´s few products with similar quality and usability I will most deffinately go for the coolest looking one.
